Description
Bellwoods Brewery began as a small brewpub in the west end of Toronto in 2012, and underwent a couple modest growth spurts over the years to encompass two retail shops (selling fresh cans and bottles), and a production brewery in North York (mostly to house The Foeder Pyramid). These days, we produce about 18,000hL a year, which is a mere blip in the grand scheme of Ontario beer, but keeps us pretty busy. The styles we’re interested in brewing range greatly, and we always remain open to new ways of making beer. For the most part, our current efforts are devoted to aromatic hoppy stuff, crisp lagers, barrel aged wild blends, fruit-forward zingers, and the occasional barrel aged stout. There’s always a new, creative project waiting in the wings. We’re still a relatively small, collaborative team, forever dedicated to the pursuit of perfect beer–thanks so much for partaking in the fruits of our labour.

Bottle from the brewery. Hazy yellow with a huge white head. Aroma is funky wet hay, quite funky. Lactic, very lambicesque. Grassy, lemon zest, vinous. Mouth feel is crisp and vibrant. Finish is medium bitter, a touch funky, and some nice tartness, leading to some mild sourness. The Plum is lost, the chardonnay grapes add a soft mustiness and vinousness. Hints of cider vinegar, lemon oil, and wet grass. Quite complex and very enjoyable.

Can from volo online. Opaque, hazy yellow pour, with a large white head. Aroma is dank, green, herbal, medicinal, and loaded with dank green hops cones, and pellets. Mouth feel is full and silky, with a solid, yet light carb. Finish is very bitter, pithy, alpha hops abound, green, dank, and blow your head off with hops. A true hop bomb, but also high octane and the cereals are a nice balance. Pretty wild stuff.

Bottle from the brewery. PInkish purple pour, with a large pink head. Aroma is tart beries, and some light grasses. I cant really point out boysenberry, its just random fruity berry aromas in general. mouthfeel was nice, and the carb was good, and lively. Finish was tart, but not overpowering. Clean tartness with a soft sweetness.

On Tap at Spacecraft in Sudbury, ON. Dark purple pour, with a tiny pink head. Big grape aroma, red wine notes, vinous, and tart, with some acidity. There is very little resembling beer in here. Very grape juice, and grape jelly forwrd, with the slightest of cereals. Not bad, just weird.
