Description
Bellwoods Brewery began as a small brewpub in the west end of Toronto in 2012, and underwent a couple modest growth spurts over the years to encompass two retail shops (selling fresh cans and bottles), and a production brewery in North York (mostly to house The Foeder Pyramid). These days, we produce about 18,000hL a year, which is a mere blip in the grand scheme of Ontario beer, but keeps us pretty busy. The styles we’re interested in brewing range greatly, and we always remain open to new ways of making beer. For the most part, our current efforts are devoted to aromatic hoppy stuff, crisp lagers, barrel aged wild blends, fruit-forward zingers, and the occasional barrel aged stout. There’s always a new, creative project waiting in the wings. We’re still a relatively small, collaborative team, forever dedicated to the pursuit of perfect beer–thanks so much for partaking in the fruits of our labour.

Can from the brewery. Hazy beige/yellow pour, with a small white head. Aroma is pale cereals with pithy, bitter, stright up grapefruit juice. Mouth feel is good, and the carb is solid. FInsih is medium bitter, with a strong grapefruit pithiness. This is basically their bellweiser with straight up grapefruit just added. NO sugar, NO sweetness, its just pithy, and bitter with a barebones lager inthe bckground.

Cask Days 2018.
Jet black, coats the glass with a brown, sticky film. Medium brown head. Aroma is the normal cherries you'd expect, with huge roast, and bitter coffee notes, but add on some rich chcolate, and solid roasted nuttiness. This beer has it all. Mouth feel is oily, and thick, with a velvety smooth carb. The finish is medium bitter, creamy, and full of black forest chocolate cake with some roasted hazelnut icing. wow, this was impressive.

Bottle from the brewery. Pours very dark brown, basically black with reddish hues, and a large beige head. Aroma is funky barrel, woody, earthy, with a distinct herbal/medicinal note with some tart, acidic berry. Mouth feel tangy, carb is solid. Finish is quite acidic, light to medium bitterness, notes of sour haskaps and dark, bitter cocoa and funky, earthy barrel. Uber complex, but immensely drinkable.

On tap at Spacecraft in Sudbury, ON. Clear golden pour, with a medium white head. Great cereals, lots of nice grassy hops, a perfect balance. A fantastic example of a well made, crisp, clean, refreshing pils. Nice and floral, and grassy with some light minerals, and cereals. love it.
