Tap sample at 2015 RateBeer Best festival. Pours deep opaque black, small brown head with good lacing. Aroma is bourbon, toffee, molasses, vanilla, roasted malts, cinnamon, clove, chocolate, mocha. Flavor is medium plus bitter, medium sweet, lightly acidic. Medium body, creamy mouthfeel. Really tasty.

On tap at rbwg festival. pours out black topped with a tan head. Nose is the cognac lots of barrel roast malts coffee molasses. Taste is more of the heavy sweetness vanilla roast malts cognac big booze and a great end.

Bouteille 500ml, gracieuseté de msjpearson, Thanks Mike! Couleur jaune pâle translucide, mousse blanche fugace laissant un mince anneau, fine bulle. Arôme de Tequila, zeste de citron, malt. Goût de Tequila, boisé, bonne acidité, un peu vineux, malt pâle, côté végétal. Carbonatation élevée, corps moyen.

(500ml bottle at almost 2 months old) Pours medium orange with dense white lingering head and lace. Aroma sweetish and malty, dried pit fruit, caramel, coconut, herbal spicy peppery hops, citrus. Flavour of mid-sweet juicy tropical fruit, pineapple, citrus, some caramel. Finish is somewhat bitter and grassy, both fresh and somewhat spicy. Medium bodied with fairly high carb. No alcohol. Still get some unusual notes here but it feels like Citra is showing through a bit, shared it with someone who said it was nicer aged than very fresh. Not bad at all if a touch odd.

(500ml bottle @ the brewery, Jan 16 2015) Pours deep red brown with a ring of whitish bubbles. Aroma is sweet and sour with lots of oaky barrel character. Core of red wine grape, strawberry twizzler candy, cognac, red wine and balsamic vinegar, damp basement funk, leather. Palate is tart at first with wood and fruit, especially grapes and vinegar, slight cherry notes, lean oak and mineral finish. Very clean, with a slight tannic aftertaste. Leather. Medium body with low carb. Aroma is lovely and the initial taste promises much, but even when quite warm it tailed off a bit too quickly. Wanted more depth of malt/fruit. Still very nice if not quite top sour brown territory.

Bottle: Poured a dark reddish color ale with a medium off-white foamy head with good retention. Aroma of oak and vinous notes with some sour cherry notes also noticeable. Taste is a mix between some heavy vinous notes, some oak, and some cherry and tart notes with a light acidic finish. Body is pretty full for style with good carbonation. Heavier and not as delicate as I was hoping for but still a pretty solid flavour profile.

(500ml bottle @ the brewery, Jan 7 2016) Pours a lightly hazy pale pink with a tiny whitish ring of bubbles and lace. Aroma is lovely sour cherry, rose wine, tart green apple, a bit of pit fruit, a wet barnyard brett funk, oak with vanilla hints, a bright minerality. Palate is lighter than the nose, with some light tart cherry, pale pit fruit, citrus, a bit of apple. Tartness is quite light. Towards the finish, oak, dry earthy Brett, hay, dusty and a bit mineral. Finish is a little bit of cherry skin and pit, floral, lightly tannic and dry. A bit of cinnamon hearts in the aftertaste. Body is fairly light with quite soft carbonation. No gusher here. This really was quite a nice beer, perhaps my expectations and the drink-in pricing left me a bit let down. I felt the cherry presence in the mouth could be higher, but it’s elegant.

(On tap @ the brewery, Jan 7 2016) Pours hazy pale good with a moderate whitish head and lots of lace. Aroma of fresh conifer boughs, grass, floral, Mandarin pith, grain, light sweetness. Palate is lightly sweet and mostly bitter with lots of grass, pine and citrus pith notes. Some faint underripe berry notes. A bit watery. Grain in the finish. Light to medium bodied with quite high carbonation. I usually like or love Bellwoods pale ales, but this one never really kicked off for me on the palate though the nose was quite nice.

(On tap @ the brewery, Jan 7 2016) Pours hazy medium gold with a white frothy head and lace. Aroma of peach candy, passion fruit, orange, musky, tart raspberry, very clean without heavy lacto character, just some light yoghurt drink. Flavour is white peach, lemon, a little grapefruit, hints of mango and passion fruit beneath. Some yoghurt and slight lemon juice but not very sour. Some peach skin and raspberry seed in the finish. Lightish body with soft carb. Lovely stuff, so bright and fruity and just the right amount of tart, refreshing. Super job.

Bottle from the brewery. Very cloudy medium gold with a one finger long lasting white head that clings to the glass. Nose is citrus dominated with orange peel, stone fruit, melon and lots of floral notes. Background hints at grass and some light funk. Flavour has enough light honey sweetness to support a medium+ citrus bitterness in the middle with a more subdued and balanced finish. Medium slick mouth with average carbonation. Lots of character.
