Description
Bellwoods Brewery began as a small brewpub in the west end of Toronto in 2012, and underwent a couple modest growth spurts over the years to encompass two retail shops (selling fresh cans and bottles), and a production brewery in North York (mostly to house The Foeder Pyramid). These days, we produce about 18,000hL a year, which is a mere blip in the grand scheme of Ontario beer, but keeps us pretty busy. The styles we’re interested in brewing range greatly, and we always remain open to new ways of making beer. For the most part, our current efforts are devoted to aromatic hoppy stuff, crisp lagers, barrel aged wild blends, fruit-forward zingers, and the occasional barrel aged stout. There’s always a new, creative project waiting in the wings. We’re still a relatively small, collaborative team, forever dedicated to the pursuit of perfect beer–thanks so much for partaking in the fruits of our labour.

A dark rich fruity porter. Lots of dark fruity notes upfront, with a rich bitter cocoa base, amd some solid coffee aromas. The carb is soft, and the mouthfeel a little viscous. The flavor is a little on the sweet side with some light bittering in the end. The finish is all dark roasted malts, with subtle fruits, some plums, and figs. Solid.

Typical westcoast dipa, but brewed in Toronto? Yessir!
Incredible grapefruit, citrus aroma with light soapy pone notes. No malts to be found, there are balancing everything, and keeping the bitterness at bay, but they arnt really coming forward and adding any flavor, and honestly for a hop head, i dont care. More citrus in the finish, great stuff, i’ll be burping hops for hours.

Hazy golden pour, small white head. Great funk aroma, citrus, grassy, and funk. Active carb, solid mouthfeel. Great peppery, funk flavours. Grassy hops, lemons, grapefruit, medium bitter finish, super drinkable, a superb saison.

on tap at Bellwoods.
Dry, malty, bready, and a lovely sweetness. Solid body, a little over active carb. Medium bitterness, and a dry malty sweet finish.

16oz (thx, Chris S. for the box forward!) @ 🏡
Aroma: tropical fruits and some flowers.
Taste: taste is along the same lines, fruity, semi dry, a bit of bitterness, and tea notes.
Overall: pretty good. --- Beer merged from original tick of Wizard Wolf (Loral) on 22 Feb 2025 at 18:13 - Score: 7. Original review text: 8☆4☆8☆3☆15》38

Been a while since I had monogamy. Taste is sweet malt with citrus, pith with resinous hops, a little perfume a little plastic hob burn. Gently pretty tasty. Can from the Christmas gift pack.

(500ml bottle c/o my dude Herbalist, thanks!) Pour is nearly clear copper-red with a decent but stable head of off-white foam and a little lacing. Aroma is nice rich fruit, red wine and tart cherry especially, some earthy stuff that's more haskap/blueberry-focused, lactic and woody, softly funky, a little oak. Flavour is a lot duller than the nose would suggest, lean berries and lightly acidic wine, some rapsberry in there, lactic, quite lean, above average tannins, very mineral, low funk. Finish is lean lactic wine, maybe a bit oxidized, moderate tannin, berry skins. Medium-bodied, slick, above average cabonation. Smells nice, but ultimately dull and uninsipring. Maybe oxidized a bit but I can't believe that it is all there is to it, given that it's a style with solid aging potential.

Can at home watching CAN vs US 4 nations hockey. So start with Canadian brew since they scored first. Yellow pour fairly clear and one finger white head. Nose is spicy hops and grassy. Tastes grassy, peppery, bready, hint of orange. Thin watery body. Zippy finish

Pale purple and hazy. Thin head, some butter, this isn't good. Grapes, too. Yeah there's shitty concord grapes and butter. About as lousy as a Jelly King can get.

Poured from 500mL bottle. Slightly purple-ish red with small white head. Nice concord grape underlay, decent balance. Not a great grape, but showcases it well.
