Description
Bellwoods Brewery began as a small brewpub in the west end of Toronto in 2012, and underwent a couple modest growth spurts over the years to encompass two retail shops (selling fresh cans and bottles), and a production brewery in North York (mostly to house The Foeder Pyramid). These days, we produce about 18,000hL a year, which is a mere blip in the grand scheme of Ontario beer, but keeps us pretty busy. The styles we’re interested in brewing range greatly, and we always remain open to new ways of making beer. For the most part, our current efforts are devoted to aromatic hoppy stuff, crisp lagers, barrel aged wild blends, fruit-forward zingers, and the occasional barrel aged stout. There’s always a new, creative project waiting in the wings. We’re still a relatively small, collaborative team, forever dedicated to the pursuit of perfect beer–thanks so much for partaking in the fruits of our labour.

Bottle at Palace Hall 07/09/2024 Malmö September tasting - light tart tropical and citrusy fruity with notes of guava, grapefruit and yeah some pear, nice mouthfeel and body and acidity, tart fruity close. Nice one.

Pinkish and opaque, that prickly pear colour. Big prickly pear flavour, with a sweet-slightly tart and yeasty vibe. I love that they went big on the atún here, because most breweries go too subtle. Solid work.

Murky oxidized peach colour. Thin head. Oaty and thick, moderate bitterness but some hop burn. Not super bright…I get a little citra (unfortunately) but the other hops are more muted. So kind of meh overall.

Opaque. Not much head. Slightly berryish weedy notes...the malts are thick but not refined. Again blackberry notes. The hop expression is solid work, but the malt seems to let this down a bit, with simplistic gloppy sugars.

Hazy and pale. Thin head. The aroma is a bit yeasty, with light brett. Toasty on the palate, again with a lighter brett note, mellow hop and it's still a bit yeasty.

Pale and cloudy. Medium head. Tart, with a great vinous character. Balanced sugars, this is very good.

Bright mango colour. Tart, with a big mango aroma. The mango is a little more subdued on the palate, but still prominent.
