(bottle) Dark copper brown colour with a medium off-white lasting head. Sweet malty aroma with fruity (plums) and toffee elements. Medium sweet flavour, lively carbonated, medium bodied. Very tasty malty brew with a cornucopia of tasty elements: raisins, plums, leather, caramel, chocolate. Very powerful alcohol management, but never ostensible. Great !

Bottled. Hazy brownish orange colour, huge skimmy/foamy head, which lasts long. Lacing. Very complex aroma of fruit, licorace and weak notes of alcohol. Also spices and yeast can be found in the aroma. Beatiful flavour of fruit, bread, caramel, hops, some breadish notes as well as a bit smokishness. Longlasting sweetish bready aftertaste. Lovely palate.

Bottle. Mahogony color with a big beige head. Sweet date/fig/malt aroma with some berry tones. Malt and fig flavors with a yeasty, spicey finish. Nice richness and complexity. Slight alcohol presence. Did a side-by-side tasting with the Westvleteren 8 and the Rochefort was by far the better beer.

Bottle Pours a slightly orange brown with a small off white head. Even silky lacing. Aromas are a medly of vanilla, banana belgian spices, pitted fruit. Flavors are much the same. caramel, brown sugar, dark sweet malts and raisons. Smooth but not very heavy feel that just slips down. Slightly bitter, spice aftertaste.

Bottle POurs a hazy dark amber with a nice sandy colored head and fine even lacing. Aromas are much like the Westy 12 but darker and more smokey. Dark pitted fruit, alcohol is a bit more noticeable but at over 11% still hidden well. Flavors are consistant. Malty brown sugar and raisons. Smooth soft feel and a wonderfull slightly smokey aftertaste. Terriffic!

Bottle. Aroma is peppery and a little acidic. Brown colour with a little orange. Flavour is very clearly alcoholic with a sort of dry bitterness. Quite dry aftertaste, also with a lot of alcohol in it. Mouthfeel is nice and creamy. I would have preferred a little less alcohol and more maltiness. 7 3 7 4 16
Bottle, 9.2%. 3 years past BB date, nicely kept in my own cellar. Bready and yeasty aroma, some malt and alcohol. Almost clear brown colour, sparkling. Small stable tan head. The flavour is rather alcoholic, but there is also a hint of raisin and chocolate. Holds up well. 7 3 7 3 17

Bottled (BB 03/2009)
Hazy nut brown, small but steady off-white head. Sweetish aroma: plums and malts. Medium-bodied. Flavor has plums and fruits with decent malty and alcoholic body. Some yeasty notes too.
