Description
Grimm Artisanal Ales is a Brooklyn-based brewery founded in 2013 by Joe and Lauren Grimm after nearly a decade of tinkering with fermentation. Grimm specializes in concise, elegant ales epitomizing the creative, experimental spirit of the American artisanal beer revolution. With each limited edition release, we seek to push the boundaries of style and flavor in order to create beers with the utmost depth and complexity.
For five years, Grimm operated as a nomadic brewery. Joe and Lauren would develop each recipe in the kitchen of their Gowanus apartment and travel to existing breweries near and far to craft their commercial beers.

Aromas are dark malt, toast and a hint of molasses. Flavors are similar to nose with an added just right measure of vanilla. Very well balanced. Ditto with bitter, sweet and carbonation. Or touch of astringency. Really nice.

Bottled 500ml. -at Ambasada Zagreb, shared with Hrabren. Blackish coloured, small pale beige head, raisins and mild caramel in the nose. Dried fruits, raisins, acetic, light alcohol and moderate tartness. Dry and bit spicy finish. Interesting.

Can - hazy light gold - what I appreciate about what Grimm is doing in the hazy ipas I have tried from them so far is that they are not losing sight of what an ipa should be - bitter - we want complex hop flavor, sure, but so much of the hazy trend has tried to squash bitterness - not the case here - loads of citric and herbal bitterness on the tail end - soft body, creamy texture - lots of tropical notes on this one - finishing spicy and herbal - white pepper - alcohol is well-masked - it’s nice!

Can - quite a nice and zesty one, this - a lot of peppery hoppiness, grassy and herbal notes, followed by lingering citrus - for a hazy, it has a nice, crisp bitterness to it - quite dry and nicely balanced - currently on sale at my local Whole Foods, so I may need to stock up for this heat wave.

From Beer Drop, canned February 24th 2026.
Pours a lightly hazy light gold with plenty of foam, good retention and lacing.
Smell is biscuit malt, smokey, light fruitiness and bitterness.
Taste is biscuit, light bitterness, some notes of smoke, hints of fruitiness.
Light bodied, I would drink this again.

Can from Total Wine in Vacaville, CA. Pours clear gold with a transient white head. Aroma of grapefruit and more. Med body. Pale malt support tho this is quite dry. More than enough bitter to balance the malt. Flavor is grapefruit/pine with a few other things. Hint of resin. Pretty good flavor.
