Description
Temporal Artisan Ales is a brewing project that is crafting delicate oak-aged beers in a shared space at Luppolo Brewing Company in Vancouver, BC. The beers we create are fermented 100% in our oak barrels over lengthy periods of time, imparting delicate complexity. Portions of separate barrels are blended to enhance specific characteristics unique to each barrel. Every beer we release has been meticulously crafted from start to finish.

Hazy with a thin head. Some apple, cherry...basically a mix of fruit. I like how it's actually pear, plum. Acetic finish, getting harsh.

Pale and opaque. Thin head. Yeasty nose - maybe bottom of the bottle? Lots of sweet malt. Mild and drinkable, but too sweet. This probably needed to sit a while longer - and it might before the bottles are released.

330mL bottle. Pours deep dark brown with minimal tan head. Aroma has tons of bourbon, roast, chocolate, coffee. Flavour has a lot of bourbon and espresso. These flavours are very well-integrated with each other, but the beer lacks the unifying quality of a solid base beer; the palate is pretty thin and I'm not getting much character from the underlying stout. The use of barrels and adjuncts here is excellent (I especially appreciate the long aging process), but the base is wanting.

330mL bottle, pours black with a small tan head. Aroma is potent, with intense espresso beans, followed by bourbon barrels, some vanillin, and sticky sugars. Flavour has plenty of bourbon and espresso, with some vanillin, light sugars, and more espresso. Reasonable combo of flavours. The real issue here is the usual: the body is very thin -- those base beers really need some work for the barrel to have the desired effect. Good espresso and bourbon, but the base isn't strong enough.

Bottle pour at FHF 2024, pours a hazy amber orange with a small white head. Aroma is dominated by tart raspberries, some juiciness, and wild yeast. Flavour is sharp, with lots of acidic raspberries, some wild yeast, but it's not dominated by acidity. This needs some work, though the aromatic raspberries are nice.
