330ml @ Black Christmas 2023 at Heritage Hall. Appearance: dark brown with a dark beige head. Aroma: spicy, moderate sweetness, malty. Taste: along the same lines, a bit meaty maybe. Overall: good one.

Poured from bottle @ Black Xmas. Dark brown with minimal beige head. Coffee, vanilla, I feel like the adjuncts do a disservice to the Munich wine here. Okay.

Poured into my JW Lees Harvest Ale glass. Dark brown. Thin head. Deep dark fruits, alcohol, this goes into pomaceous fruit notes, fig and date things, and right into earthy notes that would love a touch a smoke. Those candied orange rinds from Trader Joe's? Yeah, those too. That dried apricot note is awesome, and bringing dark malts, and eclectic wood to the picture, this is what I want in an old/stock ale.

330 ml bottle. Pours a dark brown with no head. Aromas of brown sugar taffy, nougat, raisins, a bit of bourbon like booze and bready malts. Flavors follow same with the booze being more in line with a sweet rye and additional oak. Warm finish. Not getting port barrel but still but really nice

330 ml bottle. Pours a dark reddish brown with very light fizzy head that settles quickly. Aromas of salty soy sauce, chocolate syrup, and slick roasted malts. Flavors of fruity rum, dusty dark chocolate, graham cracker, vanilla, dark fruit, and oily roasted malts. A lot going on. Very good

330 ml bottle. Pours a very dark brown with short tan head. Aromas of licorice, sharp vanilla, dark chocolate, and roasted malts. And I am getting some bug spray… Flavors of dark chocolate, vanilla extract, boozy bourbon, and roasted malts.

Dark brown. Not much head but I didn't really expect any. There's an assertive, refined bourbon aroma, showcasing a stout backdrop. On the palate, the stout sits back and chills, with the barley wine taking over. Sweet sticky, figgy barley wine with brash bourbon accents, and maybe a bit of more bitter chocolate from the stout sliding in there. This is over a year old now, and maybe that's subdued some roast, but in general it's got a lot more bw character.

Dark brown, good base, complex malts, dark sugars, indistinct barrel and light whiskey so the barrels used here express themselves well.
