Description
Temporal Artisan Ales is a brewing project that is crafting delicate oak-aged beers in a shared space at Luppolo Brewing Company in Vancouver, BC. The beers we create are fermented 100% in our oak barrels over lengthy periods of time, imparting delicate complexity. Portions of separate barrels are blended to enhance specific characteristics unique to each barrel. Every beer we release has been meticulously crafted from start to finish.

Dark brown, big cinnamon, vanilla and a metric fuckton of amburana. Soft and sweet, very low carbonation. The spices go well here, obviously natural with amburana but also with a base that's getting rich but isn't quite rich. I knew I'd like this, great combination of flavours.

Pours near black. No head, no carbo. The coffee goes big in the nose, the vanilla riding shotgun. Soft body, little bit of acidity, probably from the coffee. The vanilla character is mellow and refined, as is the barrel. I'd love a more assertive malt here, but the treatments are excellent - top quality flavours and in the right balance. This one's very good.

Poured from the tap. Dark brown with tiny beige head. Barrel character here is nice with a subdued cherry underlay. Good integration of the cherry.

Poured from 750mL bottle. Cloudy gold with small white head. Mild funk, pinot grapes come through, underlying tartness.

355mL bottle at The Magnet, pours a deep dark mahogany with a tiny head. Aroma is loaded with tonka beans and coffee upfront, with bourbon barrels to round it off. Flavour is very rich, with intense coffee and bourbon barrel, with a touch of tonka beans to accentuate. Cohesive and rich. Very good.

355mL bottle at The Magnet, pours a deep dark brown with a tiny head. Nose is rich, with toke of dark dried fruits—especially raisins—caramel, some port, and a touch of rye whiskey barrels. Flavour is rich, with butterscotch, caramel, some raisins, subtle port, not much whiskey presence. Cohesive, with just enough acidity (from the port?) to balance the sticky sugars. Good.

330mL bottle, pours a deep dark brown with a small beige head. Aroma brings out lots of iodine, light-to-moderate smokiness from the Ardbeg, and very light roast. Flavour is much the same, with lots of iodine, moderate smoky whiskey, and a light toasted malt base. The base beer is lacking despite the nice barrel character. A bit flimsy but nice overall.

330 ml bottle. Pours a very dark brown with light head. Aromas of treacle, graham cracker, bourbon barrel (amburana?), chocolate and slick roasted malts. Flavors follow same with additional chocolate nougat. A bit boozy but still tasty.

Opaque with a bubbly head. Lots of herbs - the gentian I imagine. Not bad, because gentian is a good time and there's a solid malty base. I like it.
