Description
Hawkstone is the brainchild of Jeremy Clarkson and Rick and Emma from the Cotswold Brew Co. Having put blood, sweat and tears into cultivating his malting barley, Jeremy was determined that it be put to good use, so resolved to supply it directly to a local brewery to turn into lager. He was introduced to Rick and Emma from the Cotswold Brewery by the landlord at their local and they hit it off immediately. Like Jeremy, they’re committed to supporting local agriculture but they’re not just good people, they’re also excellent brewers. They created Hawkstone Lager - a brew of such exquisite quality that Jeremy decided to invest.

330ml bottle from Canon Hall Farm Shop, Barnsley - clear light amber good white head. Decent quality hop characters, not so bitter, lightly citrus and pine notes, some syrupy toffee tang at the back. Begrudgingly good beer.

On keg at Crown Inn, Marston Montgomery - clear yellow fizz with a short white head. Biscuity malts, a bit grassy, a tangy little hop finish. Easy going enough, but one is the max and move on.

Keg at Crown Inn, Marston Montgomery - clear yellow fizz with no head. Not much nose, but good tangy apple taste, solid drink. Shame about the brewery owner.

Isle Of Wight Holiday Beer#63. A cider again, sparkling golden, healthy enough apple, a little mainstream in design and taste but fair, and sweet.
