Hell-würziger Antrunk, weich getreidig. Das Bier wird zunehmend herb, was aber auf geringer Intensität geschieht. Auch das Malz nimmt zu und befindet sich zum Ende auf angenehmem aber immer noch süffigem Niveau. Hopfennoten sind nur am Rande vorhanden. Abwechslungsreiches und gelungenes Lager.

Aromatisch-getreidiger Antrunk, deutlich aber nicht komplett einnehmend hopfig. Etwas bitter werdend, die Aromen wirken sehr separiert. Angenehm getreidig-bitter, durchgehend sehr herb, im Abgang etwas trocken.

Stimmig malziger Antrunk, weich. Wenig Röstmalzaromen sind dabei vorhanden, außerdem eine leichte Herbe. Darüber hinaus hat das Bier nicht viel zu bieten, mit der Zeit wird es wässrig, was aber nicht störend ist. Im Abgang sind die Röstnoten weniger intensiv. Ein einfaches Schwarzbier, aber immerhin.

Bereits im Antrunk entfaltet das Bier einen sehr würziges Malzaroma an den sich ein untergeordnter süßer Ton klammert und so die Würzigkeit unterstützt. Im Mittelteil kommt der Hopfen hervor und stellt sich in den Vordergrund. Dennoch wirkt er sehr unwichtig, dagegen wird das Malz etwas erdig und schokoladig und zieht so die Blicke erneut auf sich. Angenehm röstig-karamellig, dunkelmalzig, aromatisch. Die süße im Abgang weicht, da sich auch hier das Malz breitmacht und noch einmal seine voluminöse Seite zeigt. Ein sehr gelungener Doppelbock ohne Fehler!

No, for the wine region around Wuerzburg is not a good beer. The Wuerzburg Pils is certainly at most second Class! Herb in the finish but quite sweet in Antrunk. Overall, a strange bitter beer that makes you want to wine - and this one should stay in Wuerzburg.

Draught @ the keller. Hazy dull straw. Dusty yeast aroma. Sweetish, a bit footy, with light yeast. Fairly bland. Definitely unterfranken.

bottle - Pours cloudy yellow-orange with a big, fluffy white head. It smells of spice, banana, and wheat. The flavor is much the same, lightly sweet with a mildly dry finish. This brew is light bodied and bubbly on the palate. It’s a good hefe though I’m not sure about the 98th style percentile it has right now. I expect it’s even better before it gets shipped across the pond though.

Bottle. Fizzy, off-white head atop a deep amber body. Aroma of caramel, banana and toasted grain. The flavor is moderately sweet, lightly acidic and lightly bitter. It finishes lightly to moderately bitter, lightly sweet and lightly to moderately acidic. Medium body, velvety texture and fizzy carbonation. Initial sweetness gives way to acidic tartness and some bitterness. Taste of banana, clove, some earthiness.
