Description
Established in 2014, owner Seamus McMahon has set up a lovely brewery in one of the old sheds, located behind the milking parlour. This brewery is set up on a working Dairy Farm. The team have renovated the shed to exacting specifications. The brewery is set amongst the rolling drumlins of County Monaghan. Our aim is to create distinct beers that are brewed with care and affection. We have created a range of well balanced and flavoursome ales that reflect the changing face of the beer market in Ireland.

Thick creamy beige head stayed on a jet black still body. Robust aroma of malt, burnt & dark spirits. Medium to full bodied, thick & almost chewy in the mouth with a clean finish. Slightly burnt tastes of dark chocolate, dark spirits & demerara with a long tangy citrus finish.

Pours virtually black from the bottle. A foamy tan head fades fairly rapidly. Aroma is full of roasted grains, toast, coffee. Taste is more bitter than I expect from an oatmeal stout, and lacks the mildly sweet oatmeal undertones that I would expect. Instead a note of burnt roasted grain dominates the proceedings, accompanied by minerals and coffee. Body is medium with a carbonation that is more prickly than I would like. Interesting, but reminds me of a porter rather than an oatmeal stout.

On draft at the Alltech BF. Inky thick pour, blackish brown, small brown head that dissipates quickly. Nose of molasses, tar, burnt toast. Smooth mouthfeel, almost creamy, almost perfect level of carbonation, taste is same as the nose, a bit of boozy quality however.
