Description
Established in 2014, owner Seamus McMahon has set up a lovely brewery in one of the old sheds, located behind the milking parlour. This brewery is set up on a working Dairy Farm. The team have renovated the shed to exacting specifications. The brewery is set amongst the rolling drumlins of County Monaghan. Our aim is to create distinct beers that are brewed with care and affection. We have created a range of well balanced and flavoursome ales that reflect the changing face of the beer market in Ireland.

Dark brown with a beige, frothy head that slowly fades out. Aroma of coffee grounds. Taste the same, full of coffee and roasted grain bitterness, but balanced nicely by an underlying milky sweetness. Medium body, mild carbonation, lightly oily. Not bad at all.

0.5 l bottle from 'Bierothek', best before May 2019. Clear, deep ruby with a thin, frothy, slowly diminishing, off-white head. Sweetish-malty, slightly fruity aroma of caramel, nuts, red fruits and some grains. Slightly sweet, moderately bitter, malty and slightly fruity taste of grains, caramel, straw, nuts and some red fruits, followed by a short, moderately bitter, slightly grassy and quite dry finish. Thin to medium body, slightly effervescent mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Decent.

From the bottle. Dark brown with a frothy to creamy head. Aroma is dark chocolate, oak, and whiskey. Taste is mildly sweet up front, full of chocolate, finishes with a toasted grain bitterness full of ashes, coffee and barrel. Body is full, oily. Well balanced with a better mix between the porter and the barrel than most barrel-aged brews. Nice!
