Unsere Brauerei wurde im Jahr 1556 gegründet – 40 Jahre nach dem Erlass des bayerischen Reinheitsgebotes. Das ist lange her – tiefes Mittelalter, kurz vor der Reformation. Das Bier wurde damals als „flüssiges Brot des armen Mannes“ ausgeschenkt, weil der Wein zu teuer war. Im Laufe der Jahrhunderte wechselte die Brauerei vielfach den Besitzer oder Betreiber. Ihren lange geführten Namen erhielt sie schließlich von Joseph Sedlmayr: Seine Initialen sind noch heute Teil des Wappens der Brauerei Maisach, die über 100 Jahre von der Familie Sedlmayr geführt worden war. Seit Januar 2016 betreibt Michael Schweinberger die Brauerei und führt damit die Tradition der Privatbrauerei weiter: Im Team werden hochwertige, handgemachte Biere gebraut – ganz im Sinne des klassischen Brauhandwerks.

Clear pale amber colour, good frothy off-white head, fairly lasting, good lacing. Aroma pale malts, grain, caramel, light honey. Taste medium sweet and light bitter, malty, toffee, grainy, light white fruits, spicy notes. Malty sweetbitter aftertaste, light fruit, spicy notes, warming alcohol, medium body, creamy texture, soft carbonation, very nice heller bock.

50cl bottle as Maisacher Volksfest Halbe. A clear dark golden beer with a beige head. Aroma of strong grainy malt, cereals, straw. Taste of grainy malt, cereals, biscuit, straw, moderate bitterness.

Bottle during a blind tasting. Clear golden color with white head. Aroma is buttery, light cardboard, pale malts. Taste is the same, even some light booze in the back. Oily mouthfeel with medium carbonation. Not impressive.

Schnapp-Flascherl: Cloudy, amber coloured, slowly collapsing loose off-white head; mild to moderate sweetish-bitter nose of toasted malt, chocolate, wheat and yeast; mild sourish-sweet flavour, accompanied by a delicate bitterness; pretty light bodied; slightly lingering sourish-sweetish finish with malty and bitter spots. Drinkable, still not completely convincing...

500 ml from tap. Clear brown reddish, foamy head. Roasted malt, breadcrumps, lemon, walnut. Quite bitter for a Dunkel. Light bodied, soft carbonated, dry bitter finish, watery texture. Good!
