Description

The Faversham Brewery is home to Shepherd Neame, Britain's oldest brewer - and while 1698 is the Brewery's official founding date, there is clear evidence that its heritage pre-dates even this period. Using natural ingredients, such as mineral water from the town’s aquifer and local hops, our brewers produce Kentish ales bursting with character and renowned international lagers. Whitstable Bay Organic Ale (Bottle) from Shepherd Neame

500ml bottle from Morrisons, online. Pours a clear amber, small off-white head, some retention and lacing. Aroma of bready malts, caramel, raisin. Its fine, if a little standard. Taste starts malty with notes picked up from the aroma, and there is a long modest hoppy bitter tang in the finish. However the middle is very thin and watery. Light bodied, moderate carbonation, light oiliness. Very average.

Bottle from Morrisons, Sheldon, Birmingham. Made by Sheppy's. Clear pale gold, brief fizzy white head. Aroma is fruity dessert apples, some wood and orchard notes. Taste is fruity apple, mild sourness, light smoky bacon (!), apple sauce, crisp and semi-dry finish. Light bodied. Interesting.
