Sampled from the tap at the 2010 GTMW. Poured a hazy dark brown with a gray brown head that was thin and dissipated quickly to the edges. Aroma was a combination of dark grain and honey with a hint of underlying dark chocolate. Flavor was similar with a combination of dark roasted grains and honey throughout with a bit of chocolate.

Sampled from the tap at the 2010 GTMW. Poured black with a dark brown head that lasted throughout the beer. Aroma was nice with a combination of roasted dark malts and quite tart cranberries. Flavor began with dark grains and roasted malt the melded beautifully with the growing tart cranberry flavor.

Sampled from the cask at the 2010 GTMW. Poured a cloudy yellowish orange with a white head that dissipated to the edges. Aroma had a nice combination of citrus and pine with a nice backing of grain. Flavor began with a nice pine note and mellowed in to a lighter citrus finish with a slight backing bread note.

Bottle thanks to someone at Blue Palm’s 2nd. Black pour with a small tan head. Aroma is minerally, coffee, chocolate, creamer, lactose, vanilla. Taste is chocolate, coffee, lactose and coconut. Creamy carbonation. Thick and sweet. Good.

bottle pours black with a medium tan head. Aroma is smokey with some wood notes. Flavor is strong roasted malt, licorice, with a solid subtle smoke lingering. Nice.

Sampled this one @ CCB. This one is the perfect smoke beer with the right balance. Dark brown in color, light tan head. Smoked malts blend perfectly with the oak that at times might appear to be in hindsight. Not over the top, and a tad extra smoke would have been even better. Lot going on there, dark chocolate, roasted malts, oak flavors come mesh together adding to the smoked malts and occasional bacon-like goodness.

Can. No doubt this is a coffee beer. It tastes like coffee with sugar and cream. Brown, approaching black body with a frothy, tan head. The aroma has notes of mild coffee, milk chocolate, roast, sweet cream. The flavor is lightly to moderately bitter and lightly to moderately sweet. It finishes lightly sweet and modaretely bitter. Medium body, watery texture and lively carbonation. Nicely balanced beer, though a bit too sweet. I am not sure I would drink more than one can of it at a sitting, but that one can is good — sweet coffee with a bitter finish from the roast and hops. A nice after-dinner beer.

16oz can. Pretty close to 14 bucks a four-pack, ouch. Brown-black, with a massive beige head. Pronounced coffee aroma, not so much chocolate as straight up bitter coffee. Smooth and medium bodied, this is indeed a great coffee-beer, despite the price that only a MN-homer could love. Mellow, soft carbonation. Coffee and chocolate tones, maybe some soft vanilla. Quite well executed, this is very drinkable while being unapologetically and unmistakably full of coffee. Worth seeking out.
