Description
Cellarmaker Brewing Company has been in the works for quite some time. Look for our beers to start making their way around better known beer bars and beer focused restaurants in San Francisco starting in September.
We have a tasting room in the same building as the brewery and will offer tasters, pints, and growlers. Some beers may be bottled further down the line but for now it's all draft. The only way you can take our beer away is in the form of a growler - which by the way, is a great way to drink beer!
Look for a focus of plenty of hoppy beers, belgian-style saisons, dark beers, and sour beers. We are huge fans of wine and bourbon barrel aged beers as well so it's only natural for us to have a barrel program. Think bourbon barrels loaded with big chewy imperial stouts, excessively hopped IPAs, fruited sour beers, and funky saisons. This is what we love. This is what we are all about. We hope you are too!
Please follow along for the ride as we build San Francisco's next great brewery.
Cheers!

Quite pale, thin head, more onion than weed, i mean onion is sweet but it'οΏ½s really not a leaf. Not really a weedy hop blend with fermented with sweet pale malt notes. So that'οΏ½s a thing. As a beer it'οΏ½s balanced but again comes across too oniony, especially for a beer than doesn'οΏ½t have citra.

Extra dark, inky, no head. Big bourbony nose, rich palate. Inky, bourbon, alcoholic warmth, balanced treatment, this is elegant and brutal at the same time.

Opaque. Thick head. Pale. Fairly strong alcohol, has a nice fruity hop note on the nose. On the palate, soft body, and nice stone fruit character. Quality.

Can from Corti Bros. Pours clear, dark, ruddy copper with a slight beige head. Roasty malt aroma with some floral notes. Med body. Flavor is a bit sweeter than I expected for the style, but otherwise seems appropriate. Good stuff.

On tap at CHoP. Aroma is moderately malt forward with nice cracker malt and lighter caramel notes. Moderate hop notes of grapefruit, pine, tropical citrus and hints of stone fruit. Medium light alcohol notes. Pours a clear, brilliant copper-gold color with a small, thick, pillowy, white head that recedes steadily to a small film that lingers. Flavor is somewhat sweet with medium light cracker malt notes and hints of light caramel. Fairly bitter with medium light alcohol notes. Medium light grapefruit and pine resin notes. Lighter tropical citrus and hints of stone fruit. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with medium carbonation. Low astringency and medium low alcohol warmth. Overall, a decent TIPA but one that could benefit from a bit more hop character. A bit too malt forward and lacking hop flavor and aroma. I was expecting a much danker experience.

On tap at CHoP. Aroma is malt forward with really nice toasted bread notes with lighter notes of caramel, toffee and nuts with hints of chocolate and roast. Hints of herbal, woody hops and alcohol. Pours somewhat dark brown with ruby hues on the edges and a large, thick, creamy, slightly tan head that recedes very slowly to a small creamy head that persists. High amounts of lacing and faint legs. Flavor has a medium light sweetness with moderately strong malt notes of toasted bread, caramel and toffee with hints of nuts, chocolate and roast. Medium low bitterness and faint alcohol notes. Light herbal, woody hop notes. Mouthfeel is light bodied with medium low carbonation. Low astringency and low alcohol warmth. Overall, a solid mild. The nitro tap works well with the beer and adds a nice depth to the mouthfeel despite being such a small beer. Great malt character; a very enjoyable low abv beer.

On tap at CHoP. Aroma is fairly hop forward with really nice gooseberry, passion fruit and berry notes. Light tropical citrus notes and slightly dank. Light grain notes and hints of alcohol. Pours a slightly hazy, pale, yellow gold with a medium sized, thick, creamy, pale head that shows excellent retention as it slowly recedes and persists. Moderate lacing and small legs. Flavor is somewhat sweet with light grain notes. Medium light bitterness and hints of alcohol. Moderately strong notes of gooseberry, berry, passion fruit and guava. Light tropical citrus notes and a light dankness. Mouthfeel is light bodied and crisp with medium carbonation. Low astringency and low alcohol warmth. Overall, a solid IPL. Really nice hop notes in aroma and flavor with a bit of a cat piss note. Light, crisp, slightly dry finish. Very drinkable.
