Just so we are clear, every batch for almost every beer since Flying Lion has been opened is slightly different. I think this beer is finally coming into its territory. Ruby brown color. Moderate lacing. Aroma hits you with a dry, clean, caramel maltiness, not sweet. Then a punch of spicy rye. Generally, I do not like rye but when its accompanied by dry caramel its good. Flavor is less caramel and rye but a clean hop bitterness arises. All this at 4.4! Rally coming into its own. Moderate bitterness sticks around.

Growler, pours a hazy dark copper orange with a small white head. Aroma brings out vinegar and light resin - seems a bit off. Flavour is astringent, with celery and other vegetal notes, with a bitter hop astringency. Pretty damn flawed. Not a disaster but this needs work.

Growler thanks to Eugene. Pours a dark brown with small beige head that lasts. The aroma is cracker malt, roast, chocolate. Medium mouth, rich, dark chocolate, bitter, good.

Nitro. Clear straw, lots of nitro lacing. Aroma is muted due to the nitro. Flavor is back ended with American hop bitterness. Comes off as a muted pale ale with nothing happen until this bitterness kickes in.

Black color. No lacing. Head dies. Light coffee n roast nose. Cant tell its adjunct beer. Flavor adds a bitter hop finish. Yup, still no maple or coconut. Otherwise, slightly sweet porter.

Sampler at brewery. Nailed the color, dark gold into amber. No lacing. Otherwise, first commercial attempt at the style. Sweet banana esters run amok.

Batch 2. Actually dark brown. Lots of lacing. Aroma is still really chalky. Still has a lactosey character. Flavor has a sweet dark syrup character with a bitter hops finish. Yeah, this one is still rough around the edges. But less chalky than batch 1.
