Description
You can come get to know our beers and the people behind them at either of our two locations.
Our original brewery on Lincoln Avenue is home to our Brewery Shop, where you can sample or purchase to-go, and a Tap Room, where you can stay, get a bite to eat and get to know who we are and what we do. You can now also visit our new brewery, on Balmoral Avenue, where we have a beer garden in nice weather and a completely separate food program.
Both locations offer perennials Daisy Cutter, Bodem, Pony Pilsner and Tuna plus plenty of small batch beers released weekly.

Enjoyed on tap at Goose Island Stout Fest 2012 in Chicago, IL. This was one of the more enjoyable stouts that I had throughout the day. App is pitch black, moderate to thick consistency, rich tan head. Aroma of chocolate, bit of lactose, cocoa, decent amount going on with the sweetness but it didn’t smell too much like a candy bar. Taste is very good, bit of peanuts, like Nutella, rich like a peanut butter consistency, very good stuff.

Purchased at West Lakeview Liquors in Chicago, IL; enjoyed on a gorgeous mid March Friday night kicking back after a long work week. Appearance is a pitch black with a rich, bubbly tan head that laces to the glass. Aroma is big in the coffee and chocolate notes, smells rich, bit of lactose, not too boozey. Taste is delicious. Slight bitterness from the coffee, bit of lactose, big chocolate notes, it’s pretty good, there are definitely better imperial stouts out there though. It’s big, but not too big. Still good stuff.

Pours dark brownish-black with a medium tan head that diminishes slowly. Partial rings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of chocolate malt and grain. Medium body with flavors of rye bread, chocolate, grainy malt and a bit of hops. The finish is earthy malts with a spiced rye aftertaste. Pretty good all around.

Purchased at Half Acre in Chicago, IL; enjoyed at home prior to leaving for Germany. Appearance is a semi cloudy gold with a thin frothy white head. Aroma is a very pronounced yeast, like the bottom of a fermenting bucket, along with a bit of hay / light malt with a bit of spice. Taste is unique, not good or bad, yeast still a bit prevalent, but clove notes come out a bit more and there is a light burn in the back end from the ABV content. Definitely finishes very dry, almost like a cider from a consistency standpoint. Interesting, definitely not my favorite Half Acre brew though.

Can shared by Kabutomushi. Lovely pastel orange-gold with a fine head. Resiny pine, citrus salad, grapefruit and stewed apricot nose, with a touch of chocolate. Great citrus flavors, grapefruit sorbet with light chocolate-caramel. Smooth and full, without too much gas. Nice, mildish bitterness. Excellent stuff.

On tap at small bar. Pours a clear deep brown with a tan head that dissipates slightly. Aroma has notes of light chocolate and dark grains with a bit of backing earthiness. Flavor has dark malts with a creamy note and a bit of light chocolate.

Bottle. Pours a clear gold with a white head that lasted throughout the beer and laces. Aroma has a good amount of sweet grains and light fruit with a nice Belgian yeast note. Flavor starts with sweet grains backed by light fruit and a nice yeast note.

Binny’s LP 22oz ($7): Pours a hazy amberish color with an off-white head. Aroma is a whole lot of piny hops. Taste is pretty bitter, especially at the front, but in honesty it does throughout. Malt backbone is there with slightly toasted malts, but it is definitely a background. Aftertaste is pretty intense. A brief burst of sugar. A good IPA, but not exactly my style of hoppage.
