Description
You can come get to know our beers and the people behind them at either of our two locations.

Our original brewery on Lincoln Avenue is home to our Brewery Shop, where you can sample or purchase to-go, and a Tap Room, where you can stay, get a bite to eat and get to know who we are and what we do. You can now also visit our new brewery, on Balmoral Avenue, where we have a beer garden in nice weather and a completely separate food program.

Both locations offer perennials Daisy Cutter, Bodem, Pony Pilsner and Tuna plus plenty of small batch beers released weekly.

Enjoyed on tap at Bad Apple in Chicago, IL while eating dinner with some friends. Appearance is very dark brown with thin off white head. Aroma of chocolate malt and piney hops. Taste is unique, hops used seem very natural/piney compiled with the roasted chocolate malt, tastes ’dirty’, grows on you after a while.

Galway Arms, Chicago tap ($5.50): Pours an orange/yellow colour with a white head. Aroma is citrusy hops, with some bread and grass. Taste is somewhat bitter. The citrus again makes a healthy appearance. The amlt backbone is correctly proportioned. Overall, this is a very well-balanced beer, and is something that I could probably drink all day.

Bottle. Pours a clear amber with a grayish head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma is full of dank pine with a note of onion and backing sweet grains. Flavor is full of onion and dank pine with some backing earthy grain.

"Acquired this in a trade in exchange for a can of Heady Topper. Poured into a Hill Farmstead glass at 39 Degrees F. A - Super intense gold color. Pretty hazy with lots of bubbles going on. The head was about 1.5 fingers with super clear bubbles. I think this is bottle conditioned. The bottom of the can pour had a lot of sediment that floated around and settled. S - HUGE citrus notes, some pine and some melon. Lots of fruit in the smell and yeah, the hops explode on the nose. I think the citrus is 50% lemon, 10% orange and 40% grapefruit. T - Tons of hops in this but it’s not overpowering like Hopslam or Heady Topper. The hops fade away almost instantly revealing the pineyness and citrus notes. I’d say the finish is pretty disappointing. It doesn’t finish too well. M - Disappointing mouthfeel. No carbonation to speak of and the lingering taste is disappointing. O - It’s a very light beer that I’d take fishing but wouldn’t pour into a glass. I’d drink this from the can while fishing. The smell and taste are great but not a beer I’d seek out again."

Purchased at Half Acre in Chicago, IL; enjoyed with a good friend while waiting for some pizza that never came. Appearance is cloudy dark gold with rich white head that sticks to the glass. Aroma of stinky, nature hops, straight lemon scent, maybe a bit of hay. Taste also of stinky hops, moderate bitterness in the back end, lemon flavor, oddly enough the taste is like the smell of chicken soup gone bad (which is in my fridge right now), not sure how they pulled that one off. Its still decent though!

I finally got to try more Half Acre beers when I hit Maria’s in Bridgeport for the first time. This is in a 9 oz. goblet and $5 draft on a Monday! Slightly reddish color shows through the dim bar lighting. Thin is thin, yet sassy as satisfied. Smell is of worming alcohol and a touch of, well, I say, red wine. The taste has alcohol up front, but it has brought its friends along: more cherry/fruity malt esters, and snarky American hops. A flat out great, big beer. Malt profile stays at the fringes, but stays to the end help dust you off.

Orange with a white head. Powerful hoppy aroma. Citrus, lemon, light orange. Very hoppy with light sweet malts. Flavor is much the same with nice floral hops, too. Medium bodied. Very enjoyable and quite fresh tasting.

Purchased at Half Acre in Chicago, IL; enjoyed on a random Thursday night with the house all to myself. Appearance a cloudy slightly reddish gold with a rich white head. Aroma is unique, very flowery, I associate it with a light hop backing, can get the hibiscus in the nose for sure, considering the food they made it for, it smells like it would go with it well. Taste is also very flowery, a little too flowery for my liking but it’s not bad. Definitely tropical and earthy, but also with the flavor it tastes slightly soapy. My hats off to them for trying it out, and I’m sure it goes well with the dish, but alone it’s OK. Actually has a tartness after a couple of sips that burns the back of your throat.

Purchased from Half Acre in growler form, enjoyed on New Years Eve at home. Appearance is a cloudy gold, slightly dark, with a rich white head that laces to the glass. Aroma is huge on the citrus hops, slight spice as well, can’t say there’s much other than hops in the aroma, but it smells pretty good! Definitely dry hopped. Taste is fantastic, goes down nice and smooth with a slight crispness mixed with the bitterness of the hops, slight sweet from citrus. This stuff is great, actually like it more than Daisy Cutter.
