Cloudy amber beer, little white head. Softish palate, semi dry. Creamy malt, rich and flavoursome with a little caramel - but not too sweet. Whisper of citrus. Finishes semi dry with a little hop bitterness. Very nice smooth tripel.

Bottle looks simple but good. Beer in the glass quite dark, almost black, short living head. Starts warming-malty with fine spicy notes. Modest sourish background, not very roasty. Finish drier, but still well balanced. Nice!

Bottle looks simple but good. Beer in the glass quite dark, nice head. Starts strong, malty, a bit moldy. Finish with some fruity hints, more balanced, quite dry. Not bad!

Bottle looks simple but good. Beer in the glass black, nice head. Strong aroma. Starts strong, quite alcoholic-fruity. Has a fresh-alcoholic note with fruity touches that reminds me of a champagne. Well balanced finish, a bit milder and less alcoholic. Very interesting.

Yet another beer not on the menu but brought to me by the owner/landlord of the excellent Cafe De Grendelpoort, Valkenburg in Holland. 22 Oct 2012 and I asked if he had anything amber he wasn’t showing in the beer menu: a 33cl bottle of this came my way. To be honest I found it a bit boring from start to finish and went back to the on-tap Ayinger Celebrator straight away afterwards. Clean amber pour, with a small white head. Malts just about rule the nose and palate: broken down I found biscuity, bready and yeasty notes in both the aroma and taste but nothing strong enough to excite my senses. This is almost bland: of course having it inbetween something as tasty as the Ayinger Celebrator can’t have helped the brew a great deal.

Draught at Arendsnest, Amsterdam
Beautiful dark amber, mahogany color with creamy head. Caramelly and sweetish beer, with a bit too much fusels character, alcoholic, boozy.
