500 ml bottle, as Hunter’s Crispy Pig Speciality Ale, from Det Gode Brygg, Sandnes. ABV is 4%. Brewed with Boadicea hops and apple essence. Deep golden colour, large white head. Strong aroma of apple essence / apple candy. The flavour is slightly acidic and fruity with notes of apples, but also with distinct hops and a bitter finish. Okay, and something out of the ordinary, but hardly a beer that will be on my priority list to buy again.

Bottle from Crocombe’s, Lynmouth. Mid-brown with no head. Described as a ’light stout’ it is in colour, and surprisingly so in its taste given its strength, we which is not overly obvious. There’s a sweetness amongst its roasted malts in its nose, and this is more dominant in its taste.

Bought by the in-laws whilst they were on holiday in Devon. Drunk at home, 03/06/16. Best before March 2016 but doubt this is an issue.. A strong aroma which was obvious just when I poured the beer in to the glass. Unsurprisingly an aroma of blueberries, with an alcoholic hit. Not that nice. Dark amber in colour, with a pretty lively head. In terms of palate not bad, it certainly goes down easily enough. However the taste is pretty bland. A boring ale with the addition of acidic berries. Not as bad as it coupd have been but not as interesting either.

Bottle shared at the level 42, 24/05/2016. Many thanks to Daniel for this one. A light hazed amber orange coloured pour with a a frothy off white head. Aroma is celery, veg, light strawberry, pale grains, some jam. Flavour is composed of light grains, brown grains, apple, jam, celery. Palate is semi sweet, moderate airy carbonation, spritzy. Good.

Bottle split in hotel room, Ibis Chesterfield, with Rich and John 20/05/16. Murky chestnut brown topped with a tan swirl. Nose is earthy fruit rinds, biscuit, toffee. Taste comprises light roast, faint cocoa, toffee, light hop. Medium bodied, moderate carbonation, semi drying close. Mediocre stout.

Bottle split at Level 42, thanks to Danny, 24/05/16. Rich amber with a decent beige swirl. Nose is airy malts, fruit loaf, marzipan, fruit esters. Taste comprises fruit cake, dates, raisens, light caramel. Medium bodied, prickly carbonation - overcooked in this respect, sweet toasted close. Ok English Strong, the carb level let this down a touch for me.

Bottle shared in hotel Ibis not sure where from; dark opaque brown pour with a thin bubbly white head, dark roast aroma with a hint of milk chocolate, taste has some dark roast, chocolate, dark fruit, light carbs.

Utseende: Kastanje brun.
Skum/kullsyre: Dekkende skum.

Flaske fra Det gode brygg (Sandnes), delt med Ovesen mens vørteren tappes: en ukontrollert utblåsing, heldigvis sto jeg over kjøkkenvasken! Fint lite aroma, og smaken er overdominert av chili. Samme i ettersmaken - a lingering afterburn. Et deleøl til små glass.
