Half pint, cask at Waterloo Inn in Plymouth. Clear amber-brown body. Spotty lacing from a dissipating off-white head. Caramel aroma. Caramel malts dominated the flavours profile, hints of dried fruits towards the ending. More sweet than bitter. Fair enough (24.09.2016).

Half pint, cask at JDW’s Union Rooms. Good looking with a creamy, fawn coloured head to a deep dark brown body. Spotty lacing. Dark dough and herbal hops on the nose. Caramel flavours joined by dough and mid-sweet citrus. Leafy hops towards the ending. Medium bodied. Went well with the English breakfast (Plymouth 24.09.2016).

500ml bottle bought at Union Rooms (JDW), shared with Finn. A pearl white tophead leaving rings of lace down the glass. Amber body, near-clear. Floral hops on the nose. Citrus flavours, impact of orange and lemon. Mild hop bitter finish. Tasty and refreshing (Plymouth 23.09.2016).

Cask ale shared with Finn at Brass Monkey. Dotted spots from an almost naked surface. Clear amber body. Subdued aroma of caramel malts. Mixed flavour character of bread, caramel and some impact of lemony hops. Short lived malt bitter finish. So and so (Plymouth 22.09.2016).

Appearance- clear, golden and effervescent, a small white head which quickly settles. Aroma- hops, grass, spicy hints, straw, metallic undertones. Taste- bitter hops, juicy fruit, soft bitter finish, metallic, watery mouthfeel. Not much going on here.

Disparate head over hazy light-brown beer (stout???). Bottom solid yeast. Woody nose, chocolate malt, pencil(wood). Chocolate, sweetish, lightly coloured malts. Acidity backthroat (light). Quite well-bodied for its ABV. Feels better carbonated than it looks. I agree - "Brown Jack" doesn’t sound very comestible. But this Jack ain’t black! Txs to Stef!
