Tons of roasted coffee on the nose, with a little bit of chocolate thrown in. The looks are good, even if the head seems a little too boisterous for comfort. I dig the flavor, mainly dark chocolate with a sweet dried fruit undercurrent, and a modestly bitter fade. Seems like this bottle could be just as easily labeled "stout," but the contents inside are delicious either way. (2008)

Pours a murky ruby-brown into a tulip. Off-white micro head with good retention recedes to hug rim. Cherry and oak aromas. Sweet marshmallow and tart cranberry upfront turning to rye and sour summer berry in the lasting finish. Becomes a little cloying as it sits and warms.

Bottle via a trade. Pours with a hazed ruby-red hue and a small off-white head. Aromas are lightly acetic, balsamic vinegar, vinous, red wine, lacto, oak, funk, pie cherries, cherry pits, with a little bit of sweetness imparted by the cherries. Flavors are sour, strongly lactic, some acetic, dry puckering and quite sour. Light sweetness, pie cherries. The funk is nice, but tastes a bit unrefined next to a Lost Abbey or Russian River sour. Light oak. Finishes bone dry. Easy to drink, puckering, tannins. lively bubbles. Well done.

Pours a clearish lightly tarnished copper color with a thin head and pungent hops aromas of citrus and cat pee… Must be Cascade? Flavor is very nicely balanced between a pleasant caramel malt ticket and a hops edge that is pretty biting. Mostly citrus peels and herbs. Good mix of the two elements, but I think the hops selection could give a slightly less abrasive final product.

750ml Bottle thanks to JohnGalt1. Pours out a red topped with a sand head. Aroma was of funk, maraschino cherry, vanilla, oak, and some vinegar. Taste was as the aroma lead by the sweet cherries, next you have some of that barrel showing up vanilla, oak, and tart.

Bottle. Poured a clear, pale golden color with a medium-small sized white head. Aroma was grassy notes, earthy hops. Flavor was mellow, drinkable, not offensive in the least, but nothing particularly special about it. A session-able beer to be sure.

Bottled. A dark brown beer with a tan head. The aroma has notes of wood, brettanomyces, and roasted malt. The flavor is sweet with notes of roasted malt, caramel, wood, and brettanomyces, leading to a tart woody finish.
