Cask at Crewe Dog, Crewe. Pourish a pretty dark reddish brown with a small off-white head and good lacing. Malts and berries in the nose, but only a lsight aroma overall. Dark fruit and malts are the main sensations in the mouth, but there are also flavours of humbug sweets, traditional hops and traces of spices. Quite sweet overall though. Nice and very drinkable for it’s strength.

Cask at Crewe Dog, Crewe. Pours lemon gold with a small white head and good lacing. Some grapefruit in the aroma, but not much else. In the mouth, there is a real sharpness when it first hits the tastebuds. That soon wears off though, and lemon, grapefruit and melon can be distinguished, on a caramel base. Finish is bitter and lemon. Reasonable, but a bit too much citrus for me.

Cask at Crewe Dog, Crewe. Pours golden brown with a small white head and good lacing. Malts and nuts in the aroma. Fruitiness to tore in the mouth, with apples and malts on a caramel base. Later on there are hints of spices too. Finish is slightly dry. A reasonable beer, but Tatton have made better ones.

Cask at Crewe Dog, Crewe. Pours a dark reddish brown with minimal off-white head and good lacing. The nose is vaguely fruity, but dark fruits come much more to the front in the mouth. There’s some sweetness and roast malts plus traces of chocolate. Finish is sweet and fruity. Nice enough, but not overly exciting – just a decent porter.

Cask at Crewe Dog, Crewe. Pours “bitter brown” with a small off-white head and good lacing. The aroma has ripe orchard fruits. In the mouth, floral hops vie with malts for supremacy. Underneath the flavours of apples, spices and cloves can be detected. Finish is fruity and slightly bitter. This certainly packs a punch of flavour for its strength – very nice.

Cask at Crewe Dog, Crewe. Pours a dark chestnut with minimal cream head and good lacing. Malts, nuts and spices in the aroma. Mouthfeel has toffee, molasses, roast malts, and sices with traces of parkin and raisins. Finish is somewhat spicy. Reasonable enough, but a beer for sipping in small doses.

Cask at Crewe Dog, Crewe. Pours a dark chestnut brown with a small off-white head and good lacing. Malts and spices in the aroma, but not over strong. In the mouth there’s an initial dry hoppiness which is quite offputting. Once this wears off, the main flavours are pumpkin and spices (cinnamon and cloves to the fore) over a caramel base. Finish is very dry and spicy. Not at all bad, but an acquired taste.
