At the brewery: Pours golden with a white head. Aroma is hints of fruit and flowers, but mostly nice pale malts. Taste is light bitterness. A little bit of sweetness. Nice pale malts in there. Very much a session ale.

At the brewery: pours copper with a white head. Aroma is pine and a hint of grapefruit. Taste is pretty piney. Not too bitter and a bit sweet. Nice juicy finish. Pretty good. Not too intense.

At the source: pours red with whitish head. Aroma is rue and a bit of hops. Taste is really rye oriented. Light hoppiness. Pretty tasty. Doesnt go overboard like some rye ales. I liked it.

On tap at an Italian restaurant on 2nd Ave, New York 17/5/2015. Deep gold with a decent, white, head. Tropical fruits, a touch of pine, creamy malts and a dry finish. A good beer.

Draught. Golden yellow with off-white foamy large head, faint honey aroma, medium carbonation, thin body, slight honey taste, abrupt finish. Not a great but acceptable brew.

The Sampler, Brooklyn tap: Pours black with a light brown head. Aroma is pine, dark chocolate, and roasted malt. Taste is bitter, with a light sweetness. Roasted malts shine very powerfully throughout. Well balanced black IPA.

The Sampler, Brooklyn tap: Pours black with a beige head. Aroma is chocolate, some light wood, and roast. Taste is sweet, but not overly so. Not at all heavy. This ain’t as barrel-aged as some barrel-aged beers get. Pretty simple. Easy to drink.

The Sampler, Brooklyn draught: Pours amber with an off-white head. Aroma is fruitiness, not very much hoppiness per se, and a bunch of malt and sugar. Taste is a little on the bland side, even though this was an interesting idea for a beer. Basically, it is medium sweetness with lots of fruits. I was not impressed.

A deep dark stout with a thin lacing dark brown head. In aroma, nice bitter chocolate malt with light coffee notes, grassy hops, mineral notes, OK. In mouth, a nice sweet fruity chocolate malt with light coffee notes, light vanilla, alcohol warmth, light licorice, well done. On tap at Winter’s grind February 2015.
