Kind of what I wish I could do most days. Anyways, this 5.5% Pale Ale is a nice brassy gold with a filmy off-white head that grips the side of the glass. The aroma is a fruity, floral and, pine mix. In my mouth this is revealed as pine bark, wildflowers and herbal berries. Not sure what they were going for, I find the hop profile a bit unfocused but tasty enough. If I was in the states I could go throw a six-pack of this on a hot summer weekend no problem. I generally like Lucky Bucket, their beers are decent and the price point in Japan hovers around 500 yen. They’re a nice low key brewery doing pretty good beers.

Poured amber, no carbonation and no foam. Not really usual golden as other premium lagers have, but well, I guess lagers are still different. Aroma had some caramel and brisk malty grain character. Quite subtle. Taste caramelly, sort of what I could already understand from the colour. Otherwise quite watery body, simple and highly drinkable - word I am using not to say characterless. Volume beer, not bad but well, just not that interesting, had much better stuff from this brewery before.

Decent, malty and pine resin

Lucky Bucket Certified Evil 2015 9.1% Man this is flying under the radar, I’ve seen it on Rakuten for about 650 yen and wondered at the higher price (most Lucky Bucket beers retail around 500 yen). Finally got one and wow this is brewed with brown sugar, raisin juice, molasses, cardamom and orange peel THEN aged in wine casks! This makes it probably one of the best value BA beers in Japan. Plus I gotta love the Swirl Sip Scheme motto on the label. Pouring a deep inky black with a creamy rusty tan colored head of foam. The aroma is nice: cardamom, orange peel, raisins, cinnamon - I can’t wait to get the full impact once it warms up. Medium to full bodied with a velvety mouthfeel and mildly raspy carbonation. The taste is really nice, some warmth in the pit of your stomach but very well integrated flavors of molasses, cardamom, dark chocolate, burnt sugar. It drinks dangerously easy and has me scheming... ...about getting my next bottle.

Draft. A- Flowers, sweet. A- Black color, black liquid, brown head. T- Flowers, sweet, caramel, peppermint. P- Medium body, average texture, average carbonation, floral minty finish. O- Two of the better breweries in Omaha doing a collab has to be a good thing. Well, I didn’t love it but it was a solid unique brew. Dark as hell in color, very soft aroma, and a interesting minty taste.

Draft/Fest. A- Hay, wheat, citrus, cream. A- Golden color, hazy liquid, white head. T- Wheat, citrus, yeasty, subtle alcohol. P- Medium body, average texture, average carbonation, smooth finish. O-Pretty light and not much complexity. It’s balanced and drinkable, but otherwise not too exciting.

Draft/Fest. A- Coffee, burnt caramel, whisky, cocoa. A- Black color, black liquid, light brown head. T- Coffee, molasses, whisky, cocoa, subtle vanilla. P- Full body, average texture, average carbonation, full body. O- Certified Evil is good. Certified Evil aged in the whisky barrels the brewery shares a spot with makes it even better. Not too boozy and blends very well.

Draft. A- Grass, citrus, tangerines, pine, floral. A- Golden color, hazy liquid, off white head. T- Corn, citrus, grassy, floral. P- Medium body, average texture, average carbonation, balanced finish. O- A very nice balance of hops and citrus. Juicy on the nose and palate with fresh cut grass thrown in.

Draft. A- Malty, caramel. A- Orange amber color, clear liquid, white head. T- Caramel, malty, slightly sweet. P- Medium body, average texture, average carbonation, malty finish. O- Malty and balanced. Some caramel in there that is a little on the sweet side but not too much.

Draft. A- Cocoa, subtle bourbon, light. A- Dark brown color, dark liquid, tan head. T- Coffee, roasty, cocoa, subtle booze. P- Full body, average texture, average carbonation, rich finish. O- Glad they went back to a variation of the Imperial Porter this year. It was a little lacking and didn’t have a ton of depth but it was still a good beer.
