Keg at Crescent Moon, 1/20/24. Dark brown, medium tan head, average retention. Aroma roasted malt, chocolate, phenols. Taste is roast, chocolate, hint of fruit and smoke.

Beer #18 (of 19) of my 9000th Beer Celebration [9 beers on both sides of #9000th itself] Deep dark brown coloured body with a thinnish, very fast-dying tan head with almost no movement visible at all. Aroma of roasted malt with oatmeal, molasses, grains, alcohol, squash and even a touch of burnt coffee along with some bitterness of course (from the malts) and a light dose of residual sugar in the scent, too. Medium-bodied; Strong earthy and nutty notes dominate with a lot of oatmeal and slightly bitter molasses and burnt sugar flavours show through with a thinnish profile (for the style) and a little soy sauce and umami type flavours that come through, especially closer to the end. Aftertaste shows a lot of bitterness and earthy flavours with the malt and especially the oatmeal flavours coming through along with a dry profile showing the burnt coffee aspects and some metallic funk that hits on the thin side. Overall, a pungent oatmeal-based beer with a lot of bitterness, but on the thinner side (which is probably okay due to the age, but some dry and grainy elements along with a light hit of sweetness, but nothing great or anything worth searching out for; Also, if you have a bottle of this in the cellar like I did, it's probably worth drinking right away since I can't imagine it getting much better or subtle here, without getting rid of any body or depth in flavours. I sampled this stubby, twelve ounce bottle, purchased from Hy-Vee (5150 Center Street) in Omaha, Nebraska, 05-February-2018 for US$1,69 sampled at my house here in Washington for Beer #18 (of 19) of my 9000th beer celebration [9 beers on both sides of #9000th itself].

Deep dark brown coloured body with a nice, one to two centimetre tall light brown head with a creamy glow, but a nice opaque body underneath. Aroma of peanuts, earth, toffee, caramelised sugars, a good deal of molasses and a light lactose and creaminess, but a big maltiness and a good deal of spice as well, in the nose at least. Medium-bodied; A strong earthy and nutty flavour dominates here with a light malty profile with some subdued caramelised sugars and lactose, with a small vanilla element and a dry caster sugar and a big peanutty and earthy bite that persists, especially at the end. Aftertaste shows the malts, a lot of cream, lactose and milkiness, but the chocolate, peanut butter and especially spice flavours punch through with a good deal of malts, but nothing too big-bodied. Overall, a nice and robust beer that has a good profile, a nice start and scmell, but a bit thin bodied, which makes it easy-drinking, but a bit lacklustre in terms of complexity. I sampled this stubby, twelve ounce bottle purchased from Russ's Market in Lincoln, Nebraska on 24-August-2021 for US$1,67 sampled in my hotel room here in [downtown] Omaha, Nebraska on 26-August-2021.

Very hazy golden and peach coloured body with a thinnish, single to two centimetre tall off-white head that stays afloat nicely, but is a bit thin. Aroma of very skunky and resinous hop aroma with some bright floral and grassy notes, but the piney and especially dank scents are strongest here, with a little malt noticeable as well. Light to Medium-bodied; Assertive grassy and very floral flavours show at first with a big dose of pine and resin with a kick of pineapple and grapefruit with a lot of associated bitterness hitting with some syrup and honey at the very end - quite sweet in terms of residual sugars. Aftertaste shows the bitterness front and centre with the resin, flowers and especially the perfumey hop notes with some of the alpha acids and bitterness ending nicely along with a slight sweetness from the honey and syrup with a good balance of malt that does show a bit thick and dense, especially near the end. Overall, a pretty nice, well-balanced IPA with a bright grassy, floral and resinous dank hop bite throughout that hits the mark nicely. Good to sample, especially fresh! 12oz bottle via trade pours a dark black with a ring of tan head. Nose has roasted nuts and caramel, some cinnamon, some coffee, chocolate covered espresso bean. Flavor is heavy with cocoa and malt and caramel, toffee, coffee, rootbeer, Charleston Chew. Finishes big, sweet and boozy.

From a 12 oz. bottle. Pours a clear deep cola brown with a nice tan head. Aromas of ashtray and burnt toast. Flavors are moderately sweet malt with just a touch of hop bitterness.

Strong smell of cinnamon, not much else. Taste is spicy and not much else. Can't get the smoke or the porter. Bit of sweetness, but all about the spice. Further down mellows a little but still not so deep.
