Muddy amber color with creamy head. The smoke note is very subdued, the malt is a soup, with some vegetables, earthy, dusty, and overall there is way too much yeast to be fully appreciated.
I’d love to have a proper smoked barley wine, but this is a mess.

On tap at the Alibi Room, pours a cloudy orange with a medium beige head. Aroma is complex, with notes of wood, light caramel, and wheat. Flavour is rather strong, with muted caramel, wheat, and a little smoky wood. ABV is very noticeable, but it's not detracting. Moderately complex. Interesting slow sipper.

Amber-brown. Caramelized pumpkin aroma with a touch of spice, and also caramelly malts. Lots of sweetness, more caramelized pumpkin, pretty malty and with a bit of alcohol late.

Hazy and very pale. Not much head. Fruity/yeasty aroma reminds of a poor man’s Duvel. Dry, balanced with biscuity pale malts, herbal hops and a pleasant yeast character.

On tap at the Alibi Room, pours a cloudy opaque orange with a medium white head. Aroma is hugely fruity, with loads of pear, light pumpkin, and light spiciness. Flavour is very fruity with mostly juicy pears and light spiciness. Not really getting any pumpkin here. Very well-balanced, with a spicy fruity finish. Good stuff.

750 ml bottle with special wrap. Pours a grungy thick rad/orange with light head. Aromas of Brett and bananas. Flavors of bananas and stoned fruit, wood and a little funky Brett. Looks bad but pretty smooth.

Draught at St. Augustine’s, Vancouver
Cloudy dark blond color. As the color suggests, this pumpkin beer is not based on caramelly malts; also the spice profile is different, basically coriander, maybe some star anise; the aroma is quite perfumy indeed, the flavor is a bit simpler; hints of orange peel. Relatively low bitterness, but with a light, pleasant alcohol kick.
More a Saison than a Halloween beer, thus more appreciated.

Cloudy golden color with medium sized head. It has the spicy character of Belgian ales (aroma and flavor), but also a light glue aroma, anonymous malt, and it’s strangely salty. At least it’s more Belgian than North American.
OK beer.

Beautiful red-amber color, hazy, with small compact head. Caramel brew, rather dry, with light bready touch and a bit nutty in the end. The hops have a light herbaceous trace. Subtle Altbier, not an impressive one, but at least it’s brewed to style.

On tap at the Alibi Room, pours a dark orange amber with a small white head. Aroma brings out toasted bready malt and light fruitiness. Flavour is rather metallic, with harsh copper notes, toasted bread and biscuity malt. Something seems wrong here - too metallic.
