15 June 2024. Bottle from the brewery; shared with Tim & Anke; many thanks to the former for hosting!

Hazy dark brown, small, frothy, beige head. Aroma of malt vinegar, red grape, brambleberry, ruby port, blackcurrant, wood, vague almond. Taste has sweetish-sour blackcurrant & grape in a malt body of almond, jam and malt vinegar. Tart finish of berries, dry wood, warming oxidised port alcohol. Medium body, oily texture, average carbonation. This has aged nicely.

330ml bottle. Quasi black colour with small to average, frothy, fading, tan head. BA supported, sweet-ish, caramel malty and slightly peaty aroma, notes of caramel, dark caramel, peat, TCP, plaster, leather, a touch of liquorice. Taste is alcoholic, peaty and sweet-ish, caramel malty, notes of TCP, leather, caramel; warming, alcohlic finish. Watery texture, pungent palate, medium, scattered, mildly prickly carbonation. Quite simple and monotonous, boozy, hardly drinkable - meh!

Tap at the Dutch bar bermondsey. A light hazed caramel orange coloured pour with a lasting off white head. Aroma is big tart apple, barrel funk, calvedos, some lacto. Bark. Flavour is composed of semi sweet, tangy, apple, musty vinous funk, caramel, brown sugars, light tangy fruit. Palate is semi sweet, light tang, woody tannin, mellow carbonation. Quite interesting.

Keg at 'If It Ain't Dutch', Enid Street, 31/07/24. Extremely dark mahogany brown verging on black topped with a khaki head. Nose is toffee, chocolate, dark malts, light spice, earthy roast. Taste comprises toffee, cocoa powder, nougat, sugars, nutty, dark malts. Medium bodied with bite, fine carbonation, semi drying close with a kiss of alcohol. Lacks complexity for the ABV but a competent sipper ... surprised this is riding at 3.10 off 28 rates!

09.08.2024, 0,33l bottle @ home:
Small brown bubbly-creamy mediumlasting head, deep dark syrupy pour. Aroma is rich and sweet sour-ish boozy, espresso, roasted coffee beans, dark sugar, dark malts, alcohol, bark, burnt rye bread, soil, chocolate. Taste is sweet sour-ish boozy, dark sugar, alcohol, sour-ish roasted grain, harsh coffee, soil, cough syrup, bark, tar, tobacco, burnt rye bread. Medium to longlasting bitterness, harsh and sweet sour-ish boozy mouthfeel. First smell and sip was very nice. And that's where I should have stopped...
