Lively brew, with a hint of smoke...........................................

Light in body and citrusy, with hints at spice. Big full head with lots of big bubbles. Dissipated faster than expected. Spritzy.

The first wheat I ever tried and still one of my favorites (among the German ones, anyway). I enjoy the medium bodied malt profile, which provides a clean sort of sweetness to balance out the zesty sour flavors from the yeast. The big thick foamy head is quite entertaining, too.

Light golden colour. Aroma is a good mix of noble hops and fresh bready malts. Clean, simple flavour profile is malt-accented (bready) with a moderate bitterness but little hop character beyond that. As with the rest of the beer, the finish has a very even balance, just a bit dry but with plenty of clean malt notes as well. There are certainly bolder, braver examples of the style out there, but this hits the mark pretty well and with enough character to make it enjoyable.

A nicely malty and flavorful brew. Wonderful hints of chocolate make this a great after dinner beer - and indeed I enjoyed it with Apple Strudel after a full meal of knackwurst and saurkraut. From what I've read, however, alts are more traditional hoppy. This was more like a Munich Dark - so the term Alt throws me off somewhat.
