Huge hop aroma with malt. Yellow and very clean, with a long lasting white head that laces the glass. Several flavors, bread, yeast, cream. Some bitterness, but not overwhelming; easy to drink. Medium body.

Bottle. A strange aroma mixture - wet paper/cardboard and grass/new hay. Reddish-brown color with small head. Very unique flavor - slighty tannic at first but a very distinct black cherry flavor and mild malt finish. On the weaker side for a doppelbock. I really like the cherry flavor - a very enjoyable doppelbock.

Bottle. Sweet fruity (apple/pineapple) aroma. Golden yellow with moderate head. Sweet fruity malt aroma - hints of pineapple and apple. Moderate body. Decent but not great.

Cloudy yellow color, medium white head. Aroma of wheat, some hop, citrus. Sweet taste of wheat. Bit sticky palate. Nothing special, but easy to drink. A Hefeweizen with less taste.

Pours is a very cloudy brown with a small white head. Aroma is banana and cloves. Flavor is a nice deep wheat and lemon combo. Maybe a bit wattery at the end but still very tasty and refreshing.

Crystal clear reddish coloured body with a very thin off-white head. Aroma of pale malt, cardboard and old hops. Medium-bodied; Nice full flavour of hops and malt-with a good overall finish too. Thanks to Eric for bringing this one back from Europe for us! I sampled this 50 cL bottle at the November RB party at Founder’s in Alexandria, Virginia on 20-November-2004.

2003 bottle @ Sunset Grille. Pours a medium brown with yellow tinges and some darker, murky, reddish-coppers. Good yellow head perched on top. Aroma of sweet caramel, light yeast and a dry, earthy root-like note, with some dry cocoa and some very smooth plum-like characteristics. Flavor is not vinous or even bocky and oily. Just a good, even caramel malt, with some raisins, smooth wheat notes, hints of alcohol, yeast and sugar. Gets very light as it progresses through the body; this is no Aventinus. good, but too subdued and never really regains ground on the finish. Even and well-balanced but a bit lacking in the flavor/complexity aspect. Havent seen this one ever since trying it one night at Sunset.

An orange beer with a white head. THe aroma is malty with strong notes of yeast - a little weird in a pilsener. The flavor is plainly malty. Nothing special.

Good hazy deep yellow with a classic tall dense wheat beer head. Mild banana estery aroma. Rich smooth filling palate delivers a mildly sweet flavor with just a bit of that wheat beer tang that I expect in the finish. Well done and probably not nearly as good as this is when it’s sampled over in Germany when it’s freshest.

Bottle. Corn malt aroma with slight syrup undertones. Dark yellow color - litlle head. Creamy malt flavor with a slight hops finish - nice taste despite the poor aroma.
