Description
At Hop City, we create beer that inspires the curious, and fuels the restless.
We embrace the journey as much as you do. We take risks, make wrong turns, and just go for it.
For us, it’s about believing in curiosity. Because even though it may have killed the cat, before he died, that cat probably had a pretty good time.

bottle - copper pour, good citrus hop aroma... the flavor has assertive hop bitterness with pleasant citrus notes and sweet, mildly caramel accented malt. It’s medium bodied and quite good.

12 ounce bottle into lager glass, no bottle dating. Pours crystal clear amber/copper color with a 1 finger dense light khaki head with great retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings down the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation retaining the head. Aromas of caramel, toffee, toast, biscuit, brown bread, light nuttiness, plum, apple, herbal, grass, light pepper, and yeast earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with well balanced dark/bready malt, earthy hops, and fruity yeast notes; with solid strength. Taste of caramel, toast, toffee, biscuit, brown bread, light nuttiness, plum, apple, herbal, grass, light pepper, and yeast earthiness. Light amount of earthy bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of caramel, toast, toffee, biscuit, brown bread, light nuttiness, herbal, grass, light pepper, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a short bit. Good balance and robustness of dark/bready malt, earthy hops, and yeast ester flavors; with a nice crisp malt/bitterness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, crisp, and slightly bready mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish as expected of 5%. Overall this is a nice Vienna lager. All around good balance and robustness of dark/bready malt, earthy hops, and yeast ester flavors; and very smooth and crisp to drink. A nicely enjoyable offering.

Can at the Ottawa Beerfest. 2 tickets. An opaque straw gold with an earthy, cardboard and light clove weizen aroma. A very spritzy light body that feels refreshing. The taste is banana, mild cloves & a kind of bready cardboard not bad. A mild weizen, a style that isn’t so represented at a summer time Beerfest.

Can from the LCBO. A great deep copper color that I find perfect for an IPA - big thick foamy beige head. It has a big herbal resinous hop bouquet. Slick med-full mouthfeel. The taste is lovely biscuity, herbal, resinous, dank hop goodness with light citrus - good stuff.

Can from the LCBO. Cloudy deep orange amber pour with a one finger off white head that fades slowly and leaves a bit of lace. Nose is grass, pine resin, roasted nuts and toffee. Sweet caramel start with a light to medium bitter middle of citrus and pine becoming more bitter through the finish but not as much as the nose promised. Medium slick mouth with average carbonation.

16 oz can from the liquor store in Charlottetown. Slightly hazy light gold color with a decent sized tightly bubbled white head that persists for a while. Aromas of citrus and earth with some bread, caramel and a bit of mineral and metal. The flavor is huge citrus with bits of caramel and lots of mineral water and bready with slight metallic twang. Medium to light body with a moderate level of carbonation. Easy enough to drink and technically nothing horrible here, but the mouthfeel is kind of thin and watery with a pretty boring flavor profile. This might be a decent gateway beer, but if I was trying to convert the masses I’d make them a bit more interested or shocked.
