Description
The brewery was founded in 1867 as the Dampfbrauerei Carl Kuntze. Later the name was changed into "Brauerei Neunspringe" on an old field name which in turn is derived from nine springs in the source area of the Hahle, from which the brewery draws its spring water. The brewery survived the war and stayed in the hand of the Kuntze family. But in 1953 the brewery was confiscated and transferred to a state-owned company, a situation that lasted till the end of the GDR. After a trust agency period by the Treuhandanstalt, the company became in a private limited company (GmbH) again in 1994.

500ml bottle bought at the tourist information office in Wittenberg last summer. A two-finger thick, off-white head slowly diminishing over a deep mahogany coloured body. Spare lacing. Aroma of dark dough and dried fruits. Rather strong flavour of brittle caramel joined by raisin. Mid-sweet, roasted ending. Medium bodied. Pretty nice (session with Finn and djoeye, Tromsø 07.09.2016).

500ml bottle, 7 % abv, bought at the tourist information store in Wittenberg. A snow white head, some of it remaining. Bright golden body. Spotty lacing. Modest aroma of grainy malts. Flavoured with mid-sweet grain alongside hints of dried fruits and a touch of alcohol. Sweet malty ending. Medium bodied. Just alright, not much of interest (Cabin at Elbe Princesse, Elben 06.07.2016).

500ml bottle (7% ABV) in my hotel room, late on 22nd Jan 2016. Golden body, clear and clean looking, full white head on the pour, but faded swiftly. Malts in the nose, grainy feel with brown bread. Taste was also malt led and bread like, semi-sweet flavoured with a weak bitterness in the finish. Not the best Heller Bock I’ve had, but OK.

0,5 l bottle from kappldav123. Thanks a lot my friend! A clear copper in the glass, nearly like a Red Ale, one finger white head. Some sweet malt and a little bit fruityness on the nose. Taste starts a little bit strange, malty, but not a lot, little bit dry, and sweet background. Low bitterness.

Bottle: Clear, deep chestnut-amber coloured, mid-sized and quite quickly collapsing loose tanned head; sweet roasty nose with traces of burnt malt and mild herbal hops; light to moderate sweetish flavour, very light bodied; traces of cheap (Aldi, Lidl, Netto…) coffee in the always sweet roasty-caramelly finish. Simple and sweet! No pleasure…

0,5 l bottle from kappldav123. And again big big thank you! Dark red brown and clear in the glass, one finger fine foamy head. Malty stout on the nose, less whisky. Taste starts very smooth, malty, only hints of whisky in the aftertaste. Very easy to drink, totally hidden alcohol. Increasing whisky and warming in the aftertaste. Expected more heavieness.
