On draught at Spuyten Duyvil. Pours a slightly cloudy dark amber color with a medium white head that recedes steadily. Small patches of lacing on the glass. Aroma of hops, tropical fruit and malt. Medium to full body with flavors of hops, tropical fruit and subtle rye malt. The finish is sweet with a fruity yeast aftertaste. Decent overall.

The beer starts nice floral, hoppy pine flavours together with resin hints. The mainpart is highly drinkable, nicely bitter hopped and great floral resin hop aroma. The aftertaste is long, intense resin hops, crisp and highly drinkable.

Bottle 35,5 cl. Pours a pale yellow with a slight haze and a tiny, dissipating white head. Interesting and rather sophisticated flowery aroma - not your typical aroma hops. Medium body, a fresh frutiness and a dry and rather bitter finish. Interesting - and probably quite refreshing one a hot summer’s day. 070314

Crisp amber and copper coloured body with a thin, one centimetre tall tan head. Aroma of nuts, earth, caramel, toffee, toasted malt, light apples and pears and some light yeast. Medium-bodied; Assertive yeast and malt flavour with a light medicinal and sharp metallic flavour and some assertive grain and deep squash bitterness at the end. Aftertaste shows some depth with more malt and caramel coming out, but there is a big deal of the flavours that are just up in the air, plain bitter and not very enjoyable while others are simply mild and underwhelming. Overall, a pretty poor offering with not real flavours, no complexity, no style definition and not enjoyable at all. This definitely was NOT a biere de garde and was more like an amber ale than anything else, and not a good one at that. I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased from Stop & Save Liqours in Newtown, Connecticut on 27-November-2013 for US$5.99 sampled at home in Washington on 24-February-2014.

Middle of the road imperial IPA. Pours a cloudy yellow into the tulip glass, aroma of citrus and caramel malt, taste is similar. Unremarkable.

Six pack purchased WorldWide Wine Cellars, Tolland, CT. After a marathon of heavy beers I picked this up for the lightness. Aroma is moderately toasted, hay, and light grass hops. The flavor is much of the same as the aromas. Light body with a dry texture. Hop character lingers just slightly. Honestly this delivered what I was expecting.

12 oz. bottle from WorldWide Wine Cellars, Tolland, CT. I wish I could try this on draft because I enjoy the bottle in front of me. Hazy yellow with lots of particles floating in the beer. Lasting head with some lace. Aroma is mostly citrus with wheat. The flavor starts with peppery yeast follow by moderate citrus with a very light dying hop in the background. The only real problem is the thin body. I’m sure this would fare much better on draft. The hops are nearly dead here. Stamp on bottle neck reveal bottled on 10/21/13.

22oz bottle pours a lightly hazy yellow with some soft, white head. Nose has candy sugar, some white grape, apricot, lemon, light yeast. Flavor is well balanced, malty, chalky, grass, hay, light fruit. Clean finish. Solid.
