Very dark brown colour with quick fading head. Aroma and flavour are totally overwhelmed by coconut essence that I hate. Undrinkable for me.

Draught Medium, cream-coloured head over fully cloudy dark brown beer. Nice lactic acid, old wood, brown sugar and fruity esters shamble. Red fruit. Drier in the mouth, wood, dark malts, and again (dried) red fruit. Notes of chocolate, dessert grapes. Well-bodied, alcoholheat - if well held in check - slick to viscous. Actually, a very good... barley wine? I'd say an Oud Bruin on steroids.

Bottle from Beers@Moviefun. Hazy black, stable, foamy, yellowish beige head. Aroma of toasted coco flakes, fondant, mocha, coffee grounds, vanilla bean, clove, vague tonka, wood. Taste has sweetish prune & fig, but restrained, in a dark-chocolatey malt body with toasty, toasted-nutty and bitter coffee notes. Herbal hoppy finish, 'dark' woody, pronounced fondant and toasted coconut. Medium body, slick texture, average carbonation. Very pleasant surprise from DOM, easily drinkable but lots to enjoy.

10 April 2022. At 14de Brugs Bierfestival. Cheers to Anke & Pieter!
Hazy dark brown, small, foamy, beige head. Aroma of fig, red apple, pear, prune, walnut, toast. Taste has sweet fig & apple, sourish brambleberry; softly toasty & nutty malty. Herbal hoppy finish with dried fruits, a softly roasted aspect and some spices. Medium body, slick texture, average carbonation. Brown IPA, then?

10 April 2022. At 14de Brugs Bierfestival. Cheers to Anke & Pieter!
Hazy dark brown, thin, tan head. Aroma of old bacon & ham, BBQ herbs, tobacco, beetroot, toast, old dish cloth and oddly something that reminds me of the butcher shop's ventilation. Taste has sweetish prune, umami bacon, brown-bready & toasty maltiness and a vegetably butternut aspect. Herbal hoppy finish with dried fruit, smoke, old tobacco and spices. Medium body, slick texture, average carbonation. Unpleasant in aroma, generally feels very old. Perhaps a bad batch, and better luck next time.

500ml bottle [#1036/1250]. Cloudy, brown-ish, dark red colour with small, frothy, diminishing, minimally lacing, white head. BA supported, sweet-ish malty aroma, notes of marzipan, caramel, a touch of marmite and cherry, some oak, toasted oak, smoked wood, dried fruit, raisin. Taste is sweet malty, dry oaky and quite boozy, notes of caramel, dark caramel, marzipan, fruity hints of raisin, sultana, cherry, a touch of marmite; warming, alcoholic finish. Dissolved sugar enriched, watery texture, smooth soft and slightly pungent palate, fine, soft to flat carbonation. Rich and complex, quite alcoholic - not my cup of tea.
