330 ml bottle, from a SPAR shop in Funchal. ABV is 8%. Moderately hazy golden colour, moderate white head. Aroma of white wine and \"spicy\" saison yeast. Effervescent mouthfeel. Dry flavour, notes of dry sparkling white wine and spicy Belgian saison or French biere de garde. Decent grape beer.

Lots of sharp bitterroot, some grapefruit and tangerine peel. Very boozy and bitter. Not too sweet, which is one type of barley wine that I don't like, so there's that at least. Clear maroon pour. Bottle.

Lots of sharp bitter oak in this. Saaz kind of gives off an odd aroma here. Golden pour with decent head. Very bitter end. Bottle.

Review based on the BJCP2015 guidelines (style 33B: Madeira Rum / 20C). Bottle 33 cl - Batch L13116MBL (BBF 12-2022). AROMA: medium to medium-high rum aroma with slight woody notes. low roasted background with cocoa notes and slight dried fruits. APPEARANCE: very dark brown color and opaque. medium creamy brown head with good retention. leg formation. TASTE: initial medium vinous flavor with a slight rum character, followed by medium to medium-high roasted malt flavor with cocoa and slight coffee notes. medium bitterness with a dry and roasty (almost burnt) finish. PALATE: full body with medium carbonation. OVERALL: an imperial stout more on the roasted side with ok Rum notes. The Rum is more prominent on the aroma and switches to a background presence on the flavor. Interesting!
