midnight black - small head candy corns, sugar and simple syrup. some ginger spice and vanilla Doing this side by side with GBS, this is a much better variant. The vanilla and sweetness from the BA treatment really makes the spices and ginger jump out. It’s not A+ but it’s far better than the non BA one.

Not quite black. dark but not 100%. no head at all. Very sweet nose. loads of cinnamon, some brown sugar and candy corn. sort of a molasses weirdness. Yeah, it’s Christmas in a bottle but not in a good way. Yes, gingerbread but a lot of ginger, not too sweet and not insanely christmasy. Sort of roast and dry.

750ml bottle pours a watery, opaque black with some cloudy, white head. Nose is heavy with coconut, sun tan lotion, malt, caramel, cake icing. Flavor is the same, sweet, caramel, coconut, sun tan lotion, malt, licorice, coffee. Thin mouth feel. Pretty nice. It had a different sort of barrel character I enjoyed.

750ml bottle pours a lightly oily, opaque black with some cloudy, off white head. Nose of coffee, caramel, malt, orange. Flavor is sweet, caramel, malt, coffee grounds. Straight forward. Medium bodied, dry finish.

750ml bottle pours a watery, translucent mahogany with some cloudy, off white head. Nose of chocolate, raisin, sort of vegetal, green bell pepper. Flavor is sweet, chocolate, brown sugar, jalapeno, bell pepper, raisin, smoke. Full finish.

Dark brown with a small, soapy head. Aroma of milk chocolate, gingerbread. Flavour is creamy, sweet gingerbread....chocolate malt. Very soft and smooth...spicy with a hint of alcohol bitter. Very good.

750ml bottle, split. Poured a dark brown color with a tan head. Aroma was some notes of chocolate notes, with some notes of light espresso notes. Not an overly strong chocolate or coffee flavor, some roasted malts. Pretty good, but was hoping for more.

Growler from the brewery. An intrguing concept. Pours a hazy amber color with a medium sized frothy off-white head. Good head retention. Aroma of bitter resin hops, caramel and a hint of nuttiness. The taste is bitter herbal, resin hops, honey, oats. Medium bodied. I feel this could use a little less hop intensity, but it’s a solid beer.

DC tasting November 2012. Brown-black-amberish body. Beige soapy head. Big, sweet, sugary. Nails the gingerbread part. Nice for what it is.

Growler from the brewery. Pours a dark brown color with a thin frothy tan head. Decent head retention. Aroma of coffee, green coffee, ash, bitter chocolate, roasted malts. The taste is chocolate, roasted malts, coffee, faint ash, bitter hop finish. Medium bodied, lingering bitterness, the ash-note is a bit offputting, but it’s a decent beer.
