Description
Born in La-Roche-en-Ardenne and developed and refined in Ghent, this hoppy beer combines Walloon passion and Flemish perseverance. An exceptional Belgian product that owes its name to a Flemish and a Walloon Belgian. Independently of each other, they had the same inspiration. So they named the youngest descendant of the Belgian beer paradise… L’Arogante. More Belgian you can’t get!

Bottle, BB 21.04.2018 (from beergium). Pours golden with white head. The head stays for some time. Aroma is sweet, fruits, pineapple, citrus, bretty notes. Flavor is sweet and bitter, fruits, pineapple, medicinal notes, bretty notes. Finish is sugary sweet and dry bitter. Alcohol is well covered. Overall: very good Belgian IPA, bit sugary, but I guess this is kind of expected.

Another one I forgot to take notes of in spite of having tasted it two times already, the first time at Trollekelder by Ster’s recommendation, somewhere in December last year. Rating from sheer memory but I’m determined to go back and take notes. Moussy, medium thick, dense, pale yellowish beige head, very dark but still more or less translucent, ’off-black’ bronze robe. Aroma of coffee grounds, bitter chocolate, liquorice, ’natural’ iron, burnt brown sugar, toasted bread, dried banana, fig, black tea. Restrained but well-placed dried fruit sweetness in the onset alongside a ’dim’ sourish note fit for a stout, gently carbonated with oily, smooth and sufficiently ’full’ mouthfeel, nutty and toasted with a light coffeeish roasted touch in the end, bittersweet with herbal hop bitterness in the finish, some dried fruits lingering. Pleasantly surprised by this one’s profile which is not overly Belgian, if tasted blind, I would have situated this in some non-Anglo-Saxon, ’new’ craft beer country (Netherlands, Spain, eastern Europe), if you get my drift. Will certainly revisit - with pen and paper nearby.

Thank you Kraddel & tderoeck. 330 ml. bottle sampled. BBF 29/11/18. Dark red amber, wouldn’t call it black or even black-ish, creamy tanned head. Nose is metallic herbal, licorice, faint hop, almost pine, mellow notes, low kitche spices. Taste is decent metallic licorice, herbal, bitter bark, spices, bit fizzy, plastic fruit, moacha. Okay beer, makes me think more of a Belgian Ale than a stout. Body is bit thin, fizzy, metallic, some mocha. Nowhere near the quality of their Blond.

4/II/17 - 33cl bottle @ home - BB: 29/XI/18 (2017-4) Thanks to Erwin AND Daniella + Leslie for my prima nocta bottle!

Have tasted it before, but it probably was too warm, and all shaken up so there was mainly yeast in the flavour. After sitting in my beer fridge for 2 months, I finally got around to tasting it properly. And holy shit, what a treat. No more yeast flavours, but all the hops! To me, this is more a black ipa than a stout. Then again, let's not get there, shall we? :p Clear dark brown beer, huge creamy beige head, very stable, adhesive, leaving a nice lacing in the glass. Aroma: very hoppy, citrus, grapefruit, some band-aid (so 8 instead of 9 for aroma, alas), roasted, dry, cocoa powder, some caramel. MF: lively carbon, medium body. Taste: pretty hoppy, citrus, some grapefruit, bitter hops, soft roast. Aftertaste: bitter, nice roast, caramel, hoppy, bit metallic, citrus, grapefruit, pineapple, little sweet, very nice beer!
