Draft. Dark Amber color with a big off-white head. Rich malt flavors that dominate the yeast and plum flavors. Nice Belgian tang. Not as alcoholic in flavor as I thought, and surprisingly malty.

This is a fine example of the Double style. One I need to keep on hand a bit more often. +++ Sampled from an 11.2 oz brown bottle this brew pours a dark red/brown color with a large foamy beige head that lingers forever and produces great lacing. The scent is sweet, yeasty and fruity and has a mild amount of flowery hops and chocolate. The flavor is very malty and fruity with solid notes of cherry and raspberry and a light nutty undertone and a hint of molasses. The texture is bubbly and the body is fairly full. The malt and sour fruits really come out as it warms and the finish is nicely long. Excellent.

Pale pink head, lively at first, but fast gone; fully clear, garnet red. Syrupy nose, going over in even less credible children's sweets. Heavy, cherrygums' taste, going over in some rather better tartness on the palate. Acidity is lemony - fake. Terrible gums' flavour goes on and on. Light to medium bodied; slickness - from the syrup... In Dutch we have an expression: "een afknapper" - the ultimate desillusion, the female that makes everything go limp. This is a textbook example: after the nice peach and raspberry, I really thought they had something nice going. So, it's no: this scores badly on all fronts: no haze, terrible aroma & flavour, fake acidity. Bweeeuhh.

Very pale coloured, slightly hazy; good, white, persistent head, leaving lace. First impression is that of yoghurt in the nose. Then a fruitier arome arrives - but not like jam as in the Framboos, but rather as peach-flavoured strong drink or apricot brandy. Slightly acidic nose - the wheat?. Only slightly fruity taste, sltightly tart, and perfumey - in the best sense. The fruitiness is much less markedly peach - blind I would have guessed strawberry just as easily. Remark - no aberrations direction fruitsyrups. I do get yoghurt again - a mild fruit yoghurt. Light bodied, but the fruit gives some body, and a slick mouthfeel. Again this new Celis-Van Steenberge thing surprises me in a good way. This is definitely a better than usual range. Remembers me a bit of the Melbourn beers, actually.

Pinkish tinted, collapsing foam, irregular; hazy brown-red beer. Not very convincing raspberry nose, as very sweet raspberry jam. Slight acidity, pleasing with obvious raspberry flavours. Much better taste than some of this twisted children's drinks. Some body's there. Acidburn, though mild. All in all, not bad. Makes the Celis link believable. Compared to some other recent horrors in this 'style', it might even appear great.

This was an early favorite in my journey though Belgian beers but lately it has not been doing so much for me. +++Sampled from a 25 oz bottle. The beer pours a very dark red-brown with a large tan head. There is a light sweet, sugar, and apple scents. The flavor is sweet and fruity with strong apple flavor. The brew is heavily carbonated. Very tasty.

Hazy golden color, medium frothy head. Aroma is dry hops, some spices, hint of citrus. Sweet taste, some sourness, sparkling mouthfeel. Bit sharp palate.

I had the at the t'Brugs Beertje in Bruges about 7 years ago. Orangeish color with the big head you expect. Flavor is fruity and smooth with a warming aftertaste (alcohol). I wish I could find a bottle over here for a re-rate. Good as far as I can remember.

The aroma is malty with hoppy notes. The flavor is malty with notes of straw and aroma hops. Very good for a low alcohol beer.

I have had this beer a couple of times with mixed results. This rating was for one of the better bottles. +++ Sampled from an 11.2 oz brown bottle this beer pours a hazy reddish amber color with a large tan head that lingers. There is a mild sweet and sour scent. The beer is heavily carbonated - which is something I do not really care for. The aroma was sweetish with notes of apple and pear. The flavor is mildly sweet and had notes of pear and apple with a peppery and yeasty undertone. The finish was medium length and the body slightly to the thick side of medium. This is a decent beer. The comment that came up at the table was that this was a beer you could easily drink all night, but that would not inspire you to really seek it out.
