Description
Founded in 1784 by Jean Baptiste De Bruin and still a family brewery to this day; known as Brouwerij Schelfaut until 1919, when the name was changed to Brouwerij Bios by Paul Van Steenberge, who became the head of the operation in 1922. Currently operated by his great-grandson Jef Versele (since 1998). Underwent many technical upgrades and expansions since then, most notably in 2017 when new buildings were installed and production capacity was significantly increased.

This is a good beer with a nice alcohol content that does not show in the taste. Nice and thick and a very dark brown color. There is a sweetness character to this beer. The only problem I have with it is that the label is always falling off the beer, whats up with that.

Orange to light amber color; fine stormy perlage, supporting the giant head. Dry and spicy aroma, strong coriander character, wonderful Triple. Ordinary malty flavor a bit sweet, but with an unpleasant ammonia touch (it’s the first time I encounter ammonia in a beer! I try to limit this burden in my rating).
Keg, 6-4-7-3-14=34
Orange to light amber color. Peculiar aroma: malt, caramel, a bit flowery, fudge… Sweet, malty, light fruitness. Strange, original, interesting.

11.12 oz bottle. Intensely malty nose, with lots of sugary and citrus fruits, yeast and bubble gum. Flavor much similar to nose, lots of sweet candi sugar, cotton candy, waffle cones, lemon, sweet orange, light vanilla and hints of banana and yeast. Maybe some clove in there as well. Warming, but the alcohol isnt out of place for being so high. Good fiery orange color with a big white head. Quite good, very sweet, would probably age fairly well. Not anything overly adventurous here, but quite solid.

Acceptable but not remarkable. Relatively disappointing given the regard I have for their double. +++ Sampled from an 11.2 oz brown bottle this beer pours a cloudy light golden color with a medium sized white head and lots of floaters. The aroma is sour and has a light citrus element. The flavor is sweet, tangy, citrusy, and has a bread like yeastiness. There is a sour, bitter aftertaste. Medium body.

Bottled (BB 02/2005)
Bud-color lager with lively carbonation and mostly vanishing white head. Aroma is quite present hops, malt and slightly metallic. Light crisp carbonated body. Gives sweet aftertaste. Quite close to Corona and Sol. This strange label claims to be born in Mexico.

[Draft] A dark red beer with a beutiful head where the bubbles in the lower part goes up and in the top part goes down. The aroma is very sweet with note of berries especially cowberries, yeast, and alcohol. The flavor is very sweet, with loads of cowberries, notes of hops and a dry hoppy end. It has a nice round mouthfeel.

Draft. Hazy golden color with a fine brussels lace coating the glass. Aroma is yeasty with green apples. Maltier flavor than I thought, but it was followed by the yeast with a little vanilla and banana. Much lower carbonation than I expected, but that could have been the keg.
