Description

Bottle. Hazy bright red, low pink foam. Grape skin, minerals, red must, light bubblegum aroma. Fairly dry, leathery, clay/minerals, tannins, grape pith. Not sour though, simply pleasant dry flavours. Sparkling red wine fruitiness in the finish, Bretty notes retronasal. Fascinating.

0.33 l bottle from 'AleHub', bottled in February 2022. Pitch black with a thin, frothy, slowly diminishing, beige head. Sweetish-malty, rather vinous-fruity, slightly roasty aroma of red wine, oak, dark chocolate, yoghurt and some coffee. Gently sweet, minimally tart, quite roasty, fairly vinous-fruity taste of dark chocolate, coffee, licorice, red wine and oak, followed by a medium long, quite roasty-bitter, slightly woody-dry, minimally tart finish. Medium to full body, minimally astringent, smooth and gently effervescent mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Another great Stout from Flügge, another great grape enriched beer, again matching perfectly. Love it! Could only be a little thicker.

0.33 l bottle from 'AleHub', bottled in March 2022. Pitch black with a medium large, frothy, slowly diminishing, beige head. Sweetish-malty, quite roasty, gently vinous-fruity and slightly funky aroma of dark chocolate, coffee, red wine, oak, toasted hazelnut, leather and mould. Quite sweet, malty, fairly roasty, gently vinous-fruity and a bit funky taste of dark chocolate, coffee, licorice, toasted hazelnut, red wine, oak and some brett funk, followed by a medium long, quite roasty-bitter, gently woody-dry finish. Medium to full body, very smooth, slightly creamy and minimally astringent mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Lovely Stout, fairly complex, fortunately not too dry but rather smooth and creamy. Like it a lot more than the first batch of Käte, probably benefits a lot from barrel-aging but it seems that the brett flavours are better integrated as well.
