Description

CLear mahagoni. Aroma is chestnur honey roast dried figs light perfume and resin. Taste is sweet melasses with some honey and hints of fresh sour fruit. Quite dense and with a nice dried fruit finish. More similar to a Doppelbock than Biere de Garde from my feeling. Nice anyway-.

Thanks David. Interesting malty red wine nose. Malty deep Stout with a nice fruity deep winey back. Deep winey red wine, wood and nice deep malt. Great combination, a bit booze, fantastic. Smooth, mild, highly tasty. --- Beer merged from original tick of Flügge Georg I. - 2021 on 23 Jul 2022 at 22:43 - Score: 8. Original review text: Thanks David I. Interesting malty red wine nose. Bottle (Many thanks to Jonas!): Ruby-amber coloured, a bit unclear, small off-white foamy layer, distinctive aroma of sour cherries, brettanomyces and (dark) malt; distinctive sour and mildly sweet flavour, medium bodied neither fizzy nor soft; lingering sour-fruity finish with a sweet malty counterpart in the aftertaste. The squaring of the Ebbelwoi...

0.33 l bottle from 'Bierothek', best before March 2027. Hazy, very dark ruby with a medium large, foamy, almost stable, beige head. Sweetish-malty, slightly sourish, rather fruity, slightly vinous aroma of plum, balsamic vinegar, almond, cherry, red grapes, some chocolate and a touch of wood. Gently sweet, malty, slightly sour, rather fruity and moderately vinous taste of caramel, chocolate, plum, cherry, red grapes, some balsamic vinegar and a touch of wood, followed by a short, gently tart, slightly woody finish. Medium body, slightly astringent and gently effervescent mouthfeel, average carbonation. Lovely Oud Bruin, very complex and moreish, such a perfect match with the plums. Really tasty, Flügge at its best.
