Canned 6/15/17, drunk 7/3/17.
Fully hazy, maize-golden with drab brass hues and a small, white head fading instantly to cover.
Whew, that’s a lot of garlic. Very scalliony/garlicy with very light pine accents and some extremely light pineapple juiciness. Moderately estery with a bit of alcohol and little/no malt character in the nose.
Big orange juice impressions upon first sip without any of the garlic from the nose. Malts are nicely attenuated but still supple, creating a soft texture. Low, fairly engaging carbonation adds to that end. There’s light dough and/or astringent character coming from somewhere, possibly too much yeast, maybe too much hop particulate (or obviously a combination of both). It really works against the brightness of the beer and leaves it mild, fairly bland and more or less similar to a glass of extra pulpy, malted orange juice. My first Dr. Nandu-line beer and I think I’ll be sticking with the Hop Hop and Away line. The mosaics here seem well past their prime.

Cask at Ginger Man Boston, 5/3/17.
Deep orange-copper with some softer beige hues. Small, off-white head shows moderate retention, but I think the cask has been on for a few days so it’s even less carbonated than when freshly tapped. Clarity is good, showing just a touch of light haze.
Nicely malty in the nose; much more so than I recall getting from any of Aeronaut’s other hoppy offerings. Tons of rich honey, light caramel, light sourdough and a touch of cereal character easily balance the tropical fruit juiciness and low hop acidity here. Tons of melon, tangerine and pineapple with strong esters creating just a bit of light sharpness but mostly controlled by the malt.
Their beers are all incredibly attenuated which leads to lots of esters and often times a bit of a "scratchy" feel to the palate. This one has loads of rich honey, light caramel and bread that greatly soften the texture and help alleviate the strong ester and light sharpness on the finish. The hops are done quite well, showing rich melon and tangerine, with tons of pineapple and mango, as well. Seems strongly El Dorado-influenced here. Low but fairly engaging carbonation and no flaws.
