Established in 1994
Beginning in 1994 with a 7 barrel converted dairy system, we set and accomplished the goal of providing unique traditional ales & lagers available through OHB. Quickly we outgrew that system.
In 1997, we began the renovation of an 1880 Historic Landmark building, which now houses our brewing facilities, a 25-barrel Price Schonstrom brew house.

Waxed bomber pours up less than (label stated) darker than night with a tan head. The aroma is sweet with malts, molasses and sweet pine hop infused wort followed by some chocolate and alcohol heat. The taste is bright with carbonation enhanced malts, roasted malts and then mildly burnt malts just before molasses and chocolate join in. By midway it stays sweet with some pine hops and a wort sensation. It ends with lingering sweetness and modest burnt maltiness.

2007 Bottle - thanks to Toby. Pours a dark amber color with a finger of creamy beige head. Nose is bourbon based with malty and faded hop notes. Pretty much identical into the taste. Rather smooth and syrupy. Good.

Bottle Pours out a mahogany topped with a sand head. Aroma was of sweet malts, bourbon, oak, vanilla, and some heat. Taste was nice not over the top on the bourbon side. Plenty of the oak and sweetness to balance it out.

Brewgrass 2009 Fairly clear dark brown pour with the typical smallish head found on many Barley Wines. Complex aroma of dried dark fruits, vanilla, light Bourbon and caramel. Smooth well balanced English style Barely Wine. It was a surprise to find this sort of thing at a Brew Fest.

Courtesy of kp. Pours clear striking amber with thin white head. The aroma is oak, bourbon, vanilla and booze. It starts with a short pulse of sweet malts and ends with nose searing heat. The taste is full and smooth. I get oak mixing with vanilla and then moving toward bourbon notes. There doesn’t appear to be much more going on here than that. Certainly this is an example of barrel aging that nearly covers up all the notes from the beer that went in the barrel. Still enjoyable though. I love how smooth it is.

Some oxidation, bourbon covers most of it. A little sweet, with moderate bourbon. Brown color.

Courtesy of tpd975 who was sitting on this for some time (that must hurt). Pours clear copper with thin off white head. The aroma is sugary, caramel, apples and a bit of musty fruit. The taste is much the same with sweet crystal malts, some caramel and then moving into more sweetness from dark fruity esters. It ends a bit sweet and caramely.
