Gravity cask at the Pentrich Tap Takeover at the Blue Boar, Leicester. Very dark brown with a purplish hue, opaque with an off-white ring of head. Slate, espresso grounds, a hint of smoke in the aroma. Taste is sweet and strong with notes of sable grape, cooking chocolate and cocoa bitters. Full oily body with soft carbonation. As interesting as it is intense.

Handpull cask at the Blue Boar's Pentrich Tap Takeover, Leicester. Light golden and hazy with a small layer of white head. Aroma of grapefruit, cantaloupe and lychee with notes of lemon wafer. Tastes less sweet than I expected. It's got a lively balance in the mouth, moving toward an intense hop oil bitterness in the back of the throat. Smooth body, flat carbonation. Nice one.

Gravity cask at the Blue Boar's Pentrich Tap Takeover, Leicester. Black and opaque with a ring of tan head. Malt-heavy aroma with notes of espresso, charcoal, bittersweet chocolate. Tastes very sweet, but there's a blueberry-laden hoppy bitterness nearer the finish. Full oily body, soft carbonation. A cracking sweet stout.

Handpull cask at the Blue Boar, Leicester, for their Pentrich Tap Takeover. As 'Kiama with Falconers Flight'. Light yellow, hazy with an unwven white head. Grassy, herbal notes on the nose with some TCP. Taste is harsh, full of medicinal hop with a vegetal note. Long bitter finish. Full oily body. Not great.

Cask at the Pentrich Tap Takeover at the Blue Boar, Leicester. Amber/mahogany, clear and flat with a small ring of beige head. Juicy berry, pine resin and forest floor on the nose. Sweet initial taste turns bitter mid-sip, with grassy and resinous leafy hop notes in the finish and aftertaste. Body is very watery but it doesn't take away much from this beer's immense flavour. A winner from Pentrich.

Handpull cask at the Blue Boar's Pentrich Tap Takeover, Leicester. Light to mid-gold with a massive foamy white head. The nose is full of citrus hops: lime, grapefruit, with some freshly mown grass and a little bit of TCP. There's some astringency to the bittersweet taste which gains traction throughout the sip. Body is really flat and oily with bitter hop oils nestling in the back of the throat for the aftertaste. Maybe not perfect but a very enjoyable hoppy pale.

Gravity cask at the Blue Boar's Pentrich Tap Takeover, Leicester. Reddish brown, clear with a ring of white head. Arima is woody with some turpentine notes, with swet malt and some cinnamon. Bittersweet taste with a light funk ending in a medicinal finish. Long finish with leafy bittering hop in the aftertaste. Flat body. It's a pretty goid trad bitter, but it fails to have that 'wow' factors present in bitters from the best breweries.

Cask at the Pentrich Tap Takeover at the Blue Boar, Leicester. Mid-golden and clear, with a ring of white head. Light aroma: floral, modestly fruity, with a metallic edge. A bit more character to the taste, with some meaty hoppiness in the initial moments. However it's short-lived, leaving a fairly watery body and muted lemon balm aftertaste. Not the best beer, lacking in character.

Cask at Great Northern, St Albans on 12th July 2019. Hazy gold with shallow white foam and no lacing. Zesty citrus aroma, liquid pass and finish. Smooth yet engaging texture and medium body. Pleasant.
