Rhymney Brewery
Microbrewery
in Blaenavon,
Torfaen,
Wales 🏴
Associated Venue: Andrew Buchan
Established in 2005
Rhymney Brewery, has taken up the most famous name in Welsh brewing to emphasise the fact that they are bringing back the old traditional flavours using modern methods and organic natural ingredients. All over Britain our beer has lost its local flavour. There are sadly few small independent breweries remaining in South Wales. Admittedly the Rhymney name disappeared when the Brewery was taken over by Whitbread. Till now...!

Thanks to Finn for a half-pint of this one, cask ale at Lichfield Vaults. Next-to-clear golden body, fair lacing from a covering white head. Moderate airy smell of grass and hay. Grass and dried fruity flavours followed by a smooth fruity tail. Easy going. (Hereford 17.10.2022).

Cask at the Pen and Wig. Dark, dark brown with a small frothy sand head. Light roast aroma, lightly fruity, raisins. Taste has more sweet notes, fruity, with the roast coming in behind for a soft bitter finish. A bit thin, but goes down easy.
