Draft at Odd Side. Nice fruity nose with grapefruit rind, berries, and grain. Sweet body with abundant citrus rind; soft and creamy and balanced by toast and sugars. Modest alcohol notes but mostly grapefruit. Very nice, my favorite beer of the visit.

Draft at Odd Side. Hazy orange-brown body, thin creamy off-white head. Nice vegetal nose with beets and peppercorn spice. Vegetal body, lots of peppercorn and earthy, spicy beet. Herbal. Strangely tasty.

Draft at Odd Side. Murky medium orange-brown body, creamy beige head with nice lacing. Nose of grapefruit flesh and rind and toasted sugars. Bitter body with citrus rind backed by nice toasty, sweet malts. Creamy body with sticky hops resins. Very enjoyable.

Draft at Odd Side. Hazy red-brown body, thin cream head. Tart nose with red grapes, oak, and toast. Tart body with lots of grape in addition to toast; thin with light esters (faint clove primarily) and oak. Thin and cloyingly tart.

Draft at Odd Side. Murky, pulpy orange-brown body, thin clumping creamy beige head. Funky sweet and sour nose with lots of tart vinaigrette and funky fruit. Sour body with cobwebby dusty wheat, vinaigrette, and just a hint of wet socks. Sweet and relatively quick-hitting. Pretty good.

Draft at Odd Side. Murky prune-colored body, thin tight cream head. Toasty nose with sharp, sweet chocolate wafers or chocolate syrup. Sour, acidic body with roasted coffee and chocolate wafer, in addition to some earthy prune notes. This tastes more like an infected beer than a deliberately soured baltic porter. Too vinegary.

Draft at Odd Side. Deep opaque brown body, thin ring of tan carbonation. Bitter roasted coffee nose with no hints of orange. Body ashy, almost burnt coffee beans with orange and cream notes increasing after a few sips and becoming cloying and muddy after a couple ounces. Oily and thin.

Draft at Odd Side. Cloudy, dirty yellow body, thin off-white head. Nose of pure grapefruit rind; body the same with unsweetened grapefruit juice and hints of rind. Nice and crisp.

Draft at Odd Side, and Michigan rating #1000. Translucent light straw-brown body, thin off-white head. Very light, nearly imperceptible nose with light fig and grain. Grainy body with earthy, nutty fig, grain and slight bitterness. Clean and quaffable. When I first joined Ratebeer, the prospect of sampling 1000 beers brewed in my home state was improbable. It’s been fun and a bit overwhelming to witness the growth of the state’s brewing industry since 2003. Cheers to the entrepeneurs, brewers, and imbibers who made this happen. Here’s to another 1000 Michigan brews.

Re-rate 24 Feb 2014: I’ve enjoyed this beer a couple times since my initial sample and it deserves a reevaluation. Creamy, well-balanced, and flavorful, this is one of the most enjoyable coffee stouts on the market right now.
Original rating: Draft at Graydon’s Crossing, Grand Rapids. Opaque red-brown body, thin tan head. Nose of chocolate and coffee beans. Ashy body with hints of vanilla; mostly roasted to burnt coffee beans, acidic roast, and dark chocolate. Thin and chalky but not bad (7-3-6-3-13).
