Description
Burdock brewery set up shop in what used to be an old Portuguese chicken restaurant, and they transformed the space into an artist-driven bar/restaurant/music hall/microbrewery run by a group of musicians and music lovers. They offer a rotating list of clean pale ales, complex saisons, crisp pilsners, zippy sours, and beer-wine hybrids that are all brewed in house.

375mL bottle, pours a hazy pale golden blonde with a tiny white head. Aroma is complex, with lots of white wine skins, some ice wine grape skins, and bugginess. Flavour is along the same lines, with Riesling grape skins, ice wine character, lots of bugs and gentle funk. Really nice expression from the grape skins and mixed well with the farmhouse funk. Buggy and vinous finish. Excellent.

375mL bottle, pours a fairly clear pale golden, with a tiny, rapidly-diminishing white head. Aroma brings out lots of sparkling white wine, crisp white berry skins, and a touch of champagne-like effervescence. Flavour is along the same lines, with crisp, tart berry skins, white wine, and a touch of champagne-like funk. Gently tart, lightly acidic, with a pleasant funk. Not the most complex Burdock beer, but this is great.

375ml bottle. Pours a cloudy straw colour with a thin, fizzy, short lived, white head that fully dissipates. Sour aroma of pale malt, funky Brett, lemon, oak and floral hops. Sweet fruity flavour of pale malt, lemon, orange, peach, oak, light Brett and floral hops in a dry, sour, acidic finish. Light to medium body with a watery texture and soft carbonation. Enjoyable and well made.

I apologize for drinking this on a Wednesday, but still a school night, right? Very pale yellow colour, hazy, with a medium but really weak head. Aroma of saison yeast, light pale malt notes, and a little vinousness. So, as promised. Light body, and light pale malt. Herbaceous hop, slightly estery yeast with a vinous note in the finish. Like Burdock mini yum.

Can. Quite pale. Pleasant hop aromatics are berryish and peachy. It's got pretty good body for this size, and a little bit of residual sugar for body. Moderate bitterness, and some citrusy hop character. Good example of this, more balanced than most.

375ml (thx, Peter K.!) @ home. Appearance: hazy golden with a white head. Aroma: rustic and barrel notes with some light manure character on the background. Taste: along the same lines, low acidity, lemony, very simple taste with a good malty backbone. Overall: a table beer with a good body.

Hazy blond colour. Dry, spritzy, moderately sour and mildly funky, some oak, gentle tannins; similar elements in the aroma. Very good.
