Description
Burdock brewery set up shop in what used to be an old Portuguese chicken restaurant, and they transformed the space into an artist-driven bar/restaurant/music hall/microbrewery run by a group of musicians and music lovers. They offer a rotating list of clean pale ales, complex saisons, crisp pilsners, zippy sours, and beer-wine hybrids that are all brewed in house.

375mL bottle, pours a clear blonde with a small white head. Aroma reveals gentle wine must and grape skins, light wild yeast, and rustic saison yeast. Flavour is somewhat mineraly, with lots of musty grape skins, medium wild yeast, and rustic notes. Really nice grape skin character, which melds well with the wild yeast. Excellent.

Dull tan. No head. The aroma is unique, and then it goes into a sweet, vinous character. Light tartness. Lots of grapeyness. I like that.

750mL bottle, pours a hazy golden with a tiny head. Aroma has a spicy and black peppery, almost like some curry powder, with musty grape skins and a touch of wild yeast. Flavour is full of musty grape skins, loads of oak, and wild yeast. The grape skins really shine nicely. Complex, oaky, vinous, musty in great cohesion. Excellent.

Pale and hazy. Quite tart, and it's nice, touch of brett, and a hint of stone fruit. Soft, mellow sweet finish.

750mL bottle, pours a clear golden with a small white head. Aroma is gentle, with some wild bugs and rustic saison yeast. Flavour is mineraly, with rustic saison yeast, some bugs, and some seltzery notes. Not a huge fan of the yeast profile, as it comes across too seltzery, but it's decent.

(750ml bottle shared by Herbalist, thanks!) Pours slightly murky deep purple with a loose bubbly active pink head. Notes of a mix of red raspberries and darker Rubus, rich red wine grapes with just a little sweetness to them, tannic and slightly earthy wine grape/blueberry tannins, soft but present lactic tartness, slightly herbal/peppery spicebox tones, smooth woody drydown, a little astringent in the back as well, very dry tannic finish, alcohol largely hidden but feels like a wine when drunk. Fairly light body for ABV and actively carbonated. Really fun wine hybrid yet again from Burdock, the less juicy nature of this one than some meant it wasn't quite as drinkable but yet again really solid blending.

(750ml bottle shared by Herbalist, thanks!) Pours fairly clear medium red with a rapidly fading pale pink head. Bright, juicy and vinous throughout, this truly drinks like a 'medium-coloured' Lambrusco with cherry, strawberry and red forest berries, balanced wine-like acidity, restrained tannins and a nice presence of drying oak to frame things. Light to medium bodied, active filling carbonation. Sure, it feels much more like wine than beer and hides its 11% accordingly, but goddamn is it a fantastic summer beverage. This is Burdock's wheelhouse.
